Komo is the man.
No sense picking a Star. A vet is a safe choice, but doesn’t do much for the future. Cultivate some leadership. I say we give Komo the “C” and “A”’s to Plekanec and Higgins.

Ron. Gotta do what we can to help him mature...or blow up, one way or another.

It would be great to see a youngster become captain, as it would (could) be a good experience and show confidence in him (whether Hainsey, Komisarek, Hainsey or Plekanec). I would say Plekanec as he is already playing like a veteran and lead the Dogs last season, though I don't know if his english is good enough to deal with referees. So Plekanec or a veteran in my opinion.

I would vote for Morgan. From everything I have read about him, he sounds like the take charge, rah-rah, do anything kind of leader that makes for good captains. The only issue with him is that he is new to the organization, and most of the guys might not know him all that well.
But then again, there will be a lot of new faces in Hamilton this year anyways, and does anybody know if he played last year with the guys coming over from Dallas? I'm too lazy to look it up.
Not sure we have any youngsters that would make good captains. Only Komisarek, in my mind, and it was a tough call for me, between him and Morgan. But, in the unlikely event there actually is an NHL season this year, Komisarek will be back in the show, meaning he will miss any AHL playoffs (of course I realize Morgan could be in the NHL as well, but its less likely than Komisarek, who is guaranteed a spot).
I'd make Komisarek an alternate though. Plekanec would be my second choice, but as mentioned above, its unclear how good his English/dressing room presence is. Hainsey is a decent choice, if only to show him the organization still values him and that his "hard work" will be rewarded, but I think Cote would probably be a better one...
So there. Morgan as captain, with Komisarek and Cote his alternates, Plekanec and Hainsey the sub-alternates for when injuries hit...
