From San Jose, for two second round picks.
That's a steep price for a 33 year old, stay-at-home defenseman who is about to become a UFA. Guy hasn't scored since 2010-11.

Don't understand that trade.....Pittsburgh over paid big time.

They think this is the year, that's why. Murray was a very solid shut down d-man. Defense could be stronger on the Pens. Letang, Martin and Orpik are good enough, but it drops off after that. Eaton, Engelland and Niskanen are barely plus on a team as good as the Pens? Murray is an upgrade on all 3 and tough to boot. In fact, I would have liked him on the Habs, but not for a rental and not for two 2nd rounders.

I had wondered about the addition of Douglas Murray earlier in the year. Did some reading on him. He's slowed down a lot, and isn't the physical presence he used to be. 2 seconds is a lot indeed. That said, the Sharks were kind enough to send us Gorges and a first (Pacioretty) for Rivet and a 5th.

Looks like the 2nd rounder in 2014 is conditional. Lightens the hit a bit, depending on the contingency.
Edit: the pick is contingent on the Pens winning 2 rounds OR signing Murray. If neither happens, it's a 3rd in 2104.

Don't understand that trade.....Pittsburgh over paid big time. I read somewhere else that the Penguins were going after some defensive depth (TSN earlier today I think) and they did just that. I guess the organization can smell the opportunity at an appearance in the finals. They're going all in. Might as well ... they have Crosby, Malkin (when he's there), Neal, Morrow, Letang ... the could probably afford to miss a few draft picks. Cheers. Edit: You know something Reap? It won't matter one single bit who they bring in ... if Fluery goes into his 'playoff mode' ... that is, letting a guy like Gomez score on him from an impossible angle ... they'll just bow out of the playoffs. And he's been known for this too.

And the Moen goal....yikes.
After Staal makes it 4-2, watch the next three saves by Halak. Stones Malkin, Crosby...and Malkin again. Typical of his playoff that year....until we met Philly. He simply returned to Earth....and the rest of them were exhausted due to over-achieving. How else could Leighton have gotten 3 shutouts? Pronger's presence helped, no doubt. Philly had a pretty solid D that year.

What a fun night that was. Moen's shot was on end, making it a lot harder to save. Ended up being well placed. Moen's been a very good playoff player over the years. If he were traded, that would be my biggest fear - losing that character guy with a penchant for scoring important goals in the playoffs.

Wish the Habs were at the point to make these deals...... the Pens need a guy like this badly. These two move obviously geared to obtaining the big prize....now do they have enough to get Iggy as well?If they do I'd rather he be in Pitt than Boston....not a Pitt fan but I hate them way less than most.

I think they may have moved on from Iggy. Feaster is asking a king's ransom, and may find himself without a dance partner if he doesn't come down a little.
