Wasn't sure where to put this, but figured this was the best place.
Fournier is an overage forward who's spend the last two years playing in Halifax with the Mooseheads. He doesn't always play with the dynamic duo, but he's the net presence on the power play. His play didn't didn't diminish this year when both MacKinnon and Drouin were off with the WJ team.
I bring him up because he's never been drafted to my knowledge. He's got fantastic hands. He scored a goal in tight in game one against Gatineau where he did a spin move and deke around the goalie while being right on the doorstep of the crease with defenders around him. He's big too, at 6'3 and over 200lbs. He's not a great skater, but he gets to where he needs to be to keep up with Mac, Drouin and Frk - all of whom are fast skaters.
I think he'd be a very interesting invite to camp. At the very worst, I think he could make a good AHL player, but with his combination of size and hands he could be a good project.

I think his upside is secondary offensive player. He's got size, uses it, isn't afraid to fight, and has a nice set of hands. He doesn't need Mac, Drouin, and Frk to get points, but he buries every chance they give him.

Notice Halifax goalie has been lights out in playoffs. Could be an interesting selection. Money goalie

Fucale has saved his best for the playoffs. I'm not entirely sold on him though. I've seen him, and he can make the routine look difficult.

I am not sold on him either, I am glad he should be gone by the time we pick. Now, with any picks from the second round onwards, there are some nice goalies out there that would not hurt our very thin depth chart at all.

Fournier has scored his 12th playoff goal tonight. He's got 21 points through nearly 11 games. He doesn't get to play 5-on-5 with MacKinnon and Drouin. He's a fantastic net presence, and needs to be because his skating is weak. Still think he's worth a look.
As an overall evaluation, I've been to each of the Mooseheads initial games in each round thus far. I've also seen a couple of the games on Eastlink Cable. I don't think they've played well yet. Lots of sloppy play. Poor passing, poor effort, bad turnovers, and a lot of undisciplined penalties. They got through the first two rounds in 8 games because the Q lets nearly everyone qualify for the post season and the quality of competition in those rounds was frankly awful. Rouyn-Noranda has upped the level of competition, but if Halifax plays their best it still isn't a close match up.
I keep reminding myself they're kids, but I watch the games from the perspective of the Memorial Cup. The best teams in the country will be there. It takes more than talent to win. It takes hard work, jam, and discipline. They've responded okay to the adversity in this round, but not as well as I'd like. They'll need to be better than they've been if they want to win it all.

Mooseheads win the President's Cup as Q champs tonight. Amazing night in Halifax. Fournier lead the playoffs in goals with 16 goals in 17 games. He's big, tough, fantastic hands, and great down low. Someone needs to give this kid a shot.

Good write up. Thanks NWT. I think I'd rate his shot as better than a b-. It's not Frk hard, but it's very accurate and he gets it off in close quarters very well. To me it's a b/b+. If he's only 192, it's the biggest 192 I've ever seen. hockeydb has him at 210, which is closer to reality I think.

I like this signing. I've been negative about a lot of recent changes, but this is one I really like.

Tough to not like this signing...there's basically no risk (outside of him taking up one of our 50 roster spots), but here you've got a 6'3" 210lbs French Canadian winger who is all heart and by all accounts a great kid. Even if he never really develops the skill side of his game he's still got a chance to play with that size and intangibles.
