The signing was to placate those Hab's fans who were concerned that with Bouillion playing defense our lineup was getting too big.

...4 of the 7 [development camp] try-outs are D-men - Caron, Jolette, Martin and Sanford. Two of these guys hint at a useful combination of offenive skill and grit - Jolette, 65 games, 14-47-61, 138 PIM and Sanford, 61 games, 16-37-53, 126 PIM. Joliette has good size at 6'1 218lbs. Sanford seems like a Bouillon clone with the type of play his numbers and his 5'9 195lb physique indicate.
Caron was ranked 107th among NA skaters at mid-term by the CSB and ended up placing 85th in the final ranking. Was drafted 261st (first in the 9th round) by Anaheim in the 2002 entry draft.
Sanford was a member of Canada's National Under 18 team in 2002.
