Been hearing rumblings that the Habs may be interested in signing him this offseason.
I wouldn't be against it....he'd fit in with Prust and White.

Meh. Do we really need his antics?

He wasn't that bad in Vancouver....maybe he's grown up a little bit.

I guess I see us needing other things. He won't help with face offs. He won't make us tougher.

He can play PK minutes...50% on faceoffs last year...not great. Plus he can get under the players skin, throw them off their game. Is he perfect...no. Do we want him back....not really, like you said there are other options, but he may be someone to look at if we strike out on some of the other free agents.

No thanks. He's a punk and not in the good Brad Marchand way.

If Lappy were the only option, I'd sooner give the ice time to Dumont.

If Lappy were the only option, I'd sooner give the ice time to Dumont. This. I wasn't happy when we let him go for nothing (bad asset management) but like it's been said, he can talk the talk but is unable to walk the walk, so pass.

There's a good Brad Marchand way? Yup. The kind that score. If Marchand weren't such a jerk, he'd be much more appreciated. He has a lot of skills and determination, which is why he's my 'neutralization' pick on Boston. He seems to have a habit of getting important goals, such as the late 1st period one against Pittsburgh to restore the 3 goal lead. Yup, take Marchand out of the game and Boston's chances of getting an important goal drop like a turkey from a helicopter. (No need to go into reminiscences since we've done it before. It's just a visual aid).

I don't understand you guys... Ott does what Lapierre does all the time, and most of you found him so clever to turtle against White, who was tar and feathered for it right here...
Has for never backing up his talk, he's got 7 fights in 2011-2012 which was 4 more than say... Moen... He won't take the true enforcer of this league, I'll give you that, but he can drop the mitts... Mind you he preferes not to and instead gaud opponents into taking penalties, and that's what agitators do...
The guy can get you 10 goals, 20 points from the 4th line, is an excellent skater, he's got size, he plays with energy and finishes his checks... I'd take him over White, Moen, Armstrong, Dumont, Halpern, anyday of the week...
At the right price, he's very good depth if you ask me.

I wasn't willing to fight the War On Drugs, I wasn't willing to fight the War On terror, but I'm willing to fight the War On Recurring Headaches.
Lapierre? Really? That is what "going forward" means?

I watched a substantial amount of Canucks games last year, so I saw Max play a bunch. Some games, he's exactly what we want, a big, fast guy who can make a key play on the 4th line and provide energy. At other times he reminds me why we traded him (albeit for way too little)...a guy who isn't disciplined and who still doesn't know when to pass the puck and when to shoot it.
He is a little more disciplined than when he was in Montreal, but marginally so. I'd rather have White, except that Max is quite a bit bigger and a lot faster and I love speed. Still....can't help but think we can do better for a 4th line centre. I'm not sold on White for that regular role either. We have to upgrade our speed everywhere on the team and can't afford so-so skaters. Not unless they are a Clowe type that brings other talents to the team.

Well Doc, you're bringing a valid point but personally I would prefer we add players who will be able to back it up in a more convincing fashion. Moen and Armstrong weren't agitating much last year and White is willing but not a fighter. Lapierre at this point could very well be more useful than any of them but if we are to improve the grit aspect, I'm expecting some player(s) that will have a greater impact in that department...

For some strange reason Lapierre, Latendresse, Ribeiro ... (and there are a few others) have never gotten a fair shake in Montreal.
