Well, we just keep fading in the division. Ryan more than makes up for Alfredsson's departure.
That price doesn't seem too steep, does it?

Boston, Ottawa, Detroit, Toronto all improved a lot at least in the near future while the Habs stand still. That is NOT a high price to pay for Ryan. Jeez, where is our management team??

Deosn't seem high at all. Noesen has regressed from when he was drafted. Silvferberg was meh IMO all along, so it's a mid to late draft choice for a good scoring power forward. Comparably, thats our first rounder for next year, Louis Leblanc and Rene Bourque. Maybe we'd have to throw in a Dumont or Bournival or Ellis, but cheap anyway I look at it. Since it's from Garrioch, you have to question it.

If that's true, Sens get the best player in the deal. He's got two years left at $5.56 million. No guarantee that he likes playing in Canada. We'll see how he handles it. Ottawa isn't the pressure cooker that Toronto or Montreal are, but there's still a lot more scrutiny than anywhere in the USA.
I like Silfverberg. Could develop into an Alfredsson type of player.,

So franko....you're saying that Silfverberg would be trade equal to Galchenyuk?
If so, then no, I wouldn't make the deal. Neither would I do the deal if the talking point was Gallagher.

LL might. unless you are looking at Bourque playing and LL comparing with Noesen.

Don't think it's a lot to give up for a 26 year old guy who who has already scored 30 four times.

I'd have given up Eller, our first rounder, and toss in a prospect (Beaulieu, Leblanc, etc) for Bobby Ryan .... That what the Habs equivalent would have been in my opinion.

What always makes it hard to figure out though is that we don't know who was key and who Anaheim really valued, and how much, so trying to make an equivalent package is well-nigh impossible.

Replace Bourque with Gallagher and it's more similar (I'd rather have Gallagher than Silfverberg on my team). First rounders about equal. Silfverberg < Gallagher, Noesen = Lablanc.

Jeez, where is our management team?? Busy signing Daniel Briere. Look, I have no problem with Bergevin if he and his team decided that they don't like Bobby Ryan enough to give up anything of value. But if we got scooped on this deal, then I am royally pissed off. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that after signing Getzlaf and Perry to max deals, it was highly unlikely that the Ducks were going to keep Ryan long-term. Bergevin had to know this and if he was interested he should have been on the phone daily with the Anaheim GM, if not putting an actual deal together making sure he was in the loop and interested in matching any deal out there. This deal looks great for Ottawa. Ryan is a power forward who can score. EXACTLY what we need to add more beef to our top 6 forwards. Maybe they really like Silverberg, but jeez this looks like a deal we could have easily matched. I hope MB wasn't asleep on this. My only hope is he is working on a big trade for a dman and couldn't spare the assets. But if at the end of the day all we have to show for the summer is Danny Freaking Briere? ? Not happy.

To answer your question - how could they not like a 26 year old with 4 thirty goal seasons behind him? Everyone in the division made changes & improvements. All MTL did was add Briere to replace Ryder's output - hopefully. They haven't played a game & they are already behind.

I like Silfverberg. Could develop into an Alfredsson type of player., I like him too. I like his style and love his potential. He already has one of the leagues most lethal wrist shots. I think he's going to score 30+ for a lot of years.
