Jason Ward will be joining the Bulldogs next week. It seems he has permission from Gainey. This seems odd since he is on a one way contract. It should be announced sometime today or tomorrow. I heard this from a very reliable source out of Montreal.

He's better off playing in the AHL than with Théodore, Ribeiro, and Dagenais in the Loveboat (oops, I meant the Caravan), where he might become infected with the lassitude flu.

I think it would be great to have Ward in Hamilton.
The knock on the Dogs is that they are too young, and their veteran presence is a little on the fringe side (Plante, Dusablon, Morgan). Jason Ward would be the perfect choice for Captain. I hope to see it.
The down side is that Lambert and/or Urquhart might end up in Long Beach, but that’s not such a bad thing. Both have good offensive skills, but it’s going to take hard work for either to make it. Hard work is something the ECHL can teach.

In today's Gazoo, they seem to be adding to the rumour that Wardo is close to signing. IMO, this is a win-win for both Ward and the Dogs. www.canada.com/sports/hockey/canadiensstory.html?id=b0c7983e-565a-436d-88ba-3c68837ca071As for Urquhart, I would rather see him playing lots of ice time in the ECHL than sitting in a suit in the stands (which is where I saw him in Edmonton). He won't get any better or any more physical watching the game, the kid needs to get ice time against bigger and older competition, and the ECHL can provide that opportunity for him. With 5 guys scratched each game this weekend, you would think that a few of them get sent down to Long Beach soon to get their ice time (depth guys like Sandford and Martin for sure, as Cote should get the nod as the #7 guy for now). Lambert at least is suiting up for some of the games, so he might end up platooning with Ben Carpentier as the extra forward.
