Heading to London. Drafted by Belleville 2 years ago but Hunter traded for his rights last year. there's something about guys coming out of London [SK excepted]. Hunter ramps guys up and teaches them to play and to play hard [which is why I have no worries about Tinordi]

Hunter ramps guys up and teaches them to play and to play hard [which is why I have no worries about Tinordi] This is the first thing I thought of when I heard he was heading to London. One of the TSN panel said that the London Knights (under Hunter) seem to be a factory for producing NHL-caliber defensemen. I'm interested in the process that made McCarron decide to join the Knights, or more specifically, the dialog between the McCarron camp, Bergevin and the Hunters. Great decision by the kid, anyway. Cheers.

I think this best prepares him for life in the NHL, but had he played at Western Michigan with Andy Murray that wouldn't have been bad either. Murray is an outstanding coach.

McCagg said at draft he was going to London. Which I think is good decision. Dale Hunter is the best coach outside the NHL, London likely going to the Memorial Cup. Hunter will learn how to fight and turn him into NHL power forward type.

I think he meant as good team, I didn't know who hosts were. Given that, the Knights are going to have depth at forward, McCarron will likely see time on different lines throughout the season. I do not expect Broadhurst or Griffith to return, but Elie and Platzer will be given bigger roles this season and could flourish. All that said, Mac brings a special dimension to the Knights...his size and skating ability/skill combo are something the Hunters haven't had very often up front - I would expect Hunter to use him quite a bit, and play him with Domi in particular so Max has even more room out there. Even if he's playing with Platzer and Elie most of the time...I could see that being a very good OHL line next season. Platzer is going to break out offensively I believe, kid is smart and creative. Even with the Ruperts...London is going to be quite deep, and he'll be playing with good players regardless.

It is very much official this morning. That Habs announced they have signed him to his entry level deal. No NCAA now, off to London!
His deal will slide once he is returned to London this fall. I expect he will play out his last two junior years there, so this contract should kick in when he moves to the Dogs in two years.
Good program at London, and he will be playing in the Memorial Cup next May! Gets him more NHL ready in many ways.
Andy Murray and Western Michigan are top notch too, so this likely was not a slam dunk.
P.S. Hey Sportsnet, for your Friday night CHL games next season, feel free to show lots of London Knights games!

Wonder if the contract was a condition for leaving Western Michigan for the OHL?
Either way i'm glad to see him heading to London...not only will McCarron be able to get in alot of games this season (80-90) but he should also get to play with one of Domi or Horvat i would assume.

Can't say I blame him.

In a nice bit of symmetry during BigMac's press event in London today, he was donning his new #24 which is Tinordi's old number.
So once again us Hab fans have an easy task when watching London Knights games...just look for the big lug wearing 24.

I believe in forging by fire. Push him to the limit at the highest level possible.
I'm surprised that he's not AHL level ready, he certainly has the size for it. There he would face man and have to prove himself at a level just short of NHL.

The problem with really big guys is that they think they can dominate without really trying. So push them to the next level. On the other hand, if they are fragile, they may collapse/regress.
