The hockeydb mentioned him as Montreal's round 3 pick (79th place, just after balej who was 78th) in 2000. First time I read about that guy. He's not mentionned on hockeysfuture. What happened to him?

He wasn't signed, so he's no longer in the organization.

He and Petr Chvojka were released a year after the draft - usually teams just have to make an offer a season after the draft, and then they can keep the player another year, after which serious contract talks need to take place so they don't go back in the draft.
In this case, AS just let these 2 guys go, for no real reason that we ever understood. It's called "renouncing rights" and is rarely done.

Poor Tyler was one of the picks that Savard didn't offer a contract offer to when he took over. There were several picks that were deemed not good enough to warrant an NHL contract offer by Savard. Another that fell to this fate was Dusty Jamieson who is playing in some ECHL rink today. The fact that Hanchuck has bounced all the way down to the UHL is proof that Savard knows talent.
