Danis has an impressive start in his professionnal career. Nice to see that Savard and Gainey also pay attention to undrafted talents. It's one thing to draft wisely, it's another to be competitive on this "youth" free-agent market, which requires good scouting and good management. Well done by Savard for scouting and contacting Danis and Gainey for signing him.

Amen! (Not an attempt to mix church and state. Just an affirmative) Danis is an upgrade to Fiset and Garon. I want to wait at least one season before claiming Danis a equivalent to Garon. He certainly did not missed his AHL start, but I want to see how he handle the long schedule. But whatever his real NHL potential end up being, he's a pure freebie at this point, so even if he end up Theodore's backup i'll be pleased.

Well that settles it lets trade Theo right away.
Let me remind the masses that there have been more than one Habs player start his glorious career looking like a super star who never amounted to more than a "could have been".
Marcel Hossa had three goals (4 points) in his first 3 games. Steve Penney was a rookie that led the Habs deep in the playoffs and then the following year went 26-18-8 ...... all signs pointed to good. He went on the win 3 more NHL games in his career.
3 games, heck 3 years, in the AHL mean squat. Let's see him in the NHL playing against the best players ..... I am still not going to ordain him.
Edmonton's farm team - nothing to get exciting about beating them. Next you will be excited about beating the Baby Leafs, who probably won't win a game this year they are that crappy.

If it doesn't mean much, why 5 paragraphs? ;D On the other hand, you would probably have written 5 paragraphs if Danis had lost his first 2.

Well that settles it lets trade Theo right away. Then when Danis loses one game we'll trade him off, too!

Then when Danis loses one game we'll trade him off, too! And lament trading Garon.

And lament trading Garon. Not really. Garon was an asset, but Gainey got good value for him: Bonk and Huet. There's no cause to lament unless both Bonk and Huet disappoint. Danis had little to do with it except boost the goaltending depth behind Huet. Anything Danis brings is a bonus. Judging from what I can perceive, the bonus promises to be substantial. His potential ranges from anchoring Hamilton to backing up Théodore to supplanting Théodore. Let's see how he develops.

I am not going to get excited about what he does in the AHL. Nor am I going to get pessimistic about what he does. It is a stepping stone, yes, but come NHL training camp I am for a fair competition and I only care what he does in the NHL. As an aside, I will get to see 6-8 Dogs games this year if the Baby Leafs don't leave town early (like I think they will). Then I will give you a fair assesment of what I think his potential is.
