This has been floating around the twitter world today, and DD wasn't at practice today. I don't know a whole lot of Kopecky.
@fredpoulin98: #NHL Rumor: The #Habs would trade F David Desharnais to the #Panthers in exchange for F Tomas Kopecky. Both players are struggling.

Kopecky had a decent season last year (15 goals) but is pointless right now.
His cap hit is 3 million & his contract expires in 2015, two years earlier than Desharnais. Has a big size advantage at 6'3"/ 200 lbs but is about 5 years older.
From a size & contract standpoint I like it but do they really need another scoreless forward?

I think this may have been spawned from talks on hfboards. There was a 'proposal' thread where it was discussed as to a trade involving the two would be 'fair' etc.
Kopecky's cap hit is $3 million. His contract runs through next season. I can't speak to his style of play. It gets us two years of contract relief, and a smaller hit, at the cost of the fact the Panthers get the better player (Kopecky has never produced more that 42 points). TK was a part of the Hawks cup winner in 2010. That in itself could provide some of the strength to the rumour - the Hawks connection.
He's a left handed winger who appears to be able to play both sides depending on where you look up his information. It would free up moving Galchenyuk to center - which has to be the ultimate goal.

This was also on a French language site: www.vestiaire.ca/forumsCan't get the link to work beyond that. Go to Rumeurs CH et LNH section.

I'll believe it when I see it.
IMHO, DD would do well with any team providing he's not the top centre.
He's skilled, but small. Very well respected by his teammates, from what I understand.
Cheers.

I'll pay for the plane ticket...we need to shed some lightweights for any return.....Bournival is really a center as well...not to mention the forgotten Briere if he ever comes back has to play center...can't ask him or expect to be battling on the boards with 3 concussions in 3 years.
