Game report by a fan at HF:
Hey guys
Went to the game last night to watch my brother play. It was a very boring game, with alot of icing's. At times it seemed like the defense on both teams were just passing it back and forth. The lines were a mess, with lines being constantly changed. Best line that I thought made things happen was the Plek-Ward-Higgins line.
Danis- 3 our of the 4 goals werent his fault. Bad bounces on two and an absolute terrible giveaway by Daley left Danis high and dry.
Plek- great goal on a good pass from Daley. Hes got some speed.
Ward- I thought he would dominate offensively out there, but didnt seem to get anything going. Threw his weight around nicely however.
Kost - hes got some hands but needs to be used more. A little weak on the puck and seems to shy away from the play if he knows hes gonna get hit. But his shot is a rifle and would be a force if he got a little more playing time.
Daley- the strongest defense out there tonite, and the only defenseman who felt the need to rush the puck, which I liked. His terrible giveaway down low gave up a goal, but he made up for it with a beautiful pass to Plek for the goal.
Carpentier- pretty much invisible out there, until he scrapped with Sugden(sp?) before the ref dropped the puck. Carpentier was simply overmatched.
After the game: We went downstairs to see Chris and he had a nice cut above his lip. He said it got reopened during the game. Saw all the players come out of the locker room too, which was cool cause I wanted to see how big they all were. Ivansan is a monster. Kost is a good sized hockey player, with both size and height. Pleks is not as small as he looks out there, and he seems more solid/ thick in person. Carpentier had a nice shiner on his cheek from his fight. Interesting note too: between the 2nd and 3rd period Jarvis left the locker room about 3 minutes before the horn blew. Not a good sign when your coach walks out of the locker room. He seemed a little unpleased after the game too.
All in all, the Dogs need something to get them back into a good team that plays hard and wins games. Hainsey wasnt in there, he apparently hurt his knee. Should be playing in Rochester tonite. Anyway this team needs a boost, which hopefully comes back when Komo finishes his rehab in Montreal.
Take care Kev

This observation is puzzling to me considering that all the draft profiles on Kostitsyn, mentioned that he's a player who isn't afraid of the rough stuff.
