Sportsnet is reporting that Corson be back in the NHL very soon. They claim in the article that as many as four teams were interested in the Fall, and I remember a thread on it. Just wondering who people think the front runners might be. Sportsnet also claims he was a centre with the Laffs. I don't know about that. He spent a lot of time on a line with Green and Tucker. Green would have been the centre on that line. Anywho, just thought I'd post it here.

Quoth the raven, nevermore (at least not in the Bell Centre). Methinks we have a wrestling fan in our midst.

I thought he was just waxing Poe-etic. Very punny. He could have been doing that to.

We could use a Shane Corson type but not THE Shane Corson anymore. HFTO

Oh gosh, I took this from another site who took it from another but it looks legit. It says that Pierre Mcguire reported today on team 990 that Gainey and Corson met recently...

It could be interesting if he plays on a crash line with Langdon and Begin. Even more so when he plays Toronto. I gather there's some bad blood...

I can confirm that just about everything Yeti wrote is true - Pierre McGuire did say all that, with one exception; he said that he "knew for a fact" that Montreal and Philadelphia were interested, and he "speculated" that New York was interested. He said he did not know who the fourth team was.
IF Corson were to come back, he would have a lot of proving to do, in my eyes. He used to be one of my favorite players, but after the way he left Montreal, the tent he help pitch over that circus there in Toronto, and the way he walked out on his teammates during the playoffs... well, lets just say I don't have quite the same level of respect I used to have...

Add the fact he'll have lost several steps.......if it is true and Corson without mentioning a specific team eluded to one having particular intrest does comeback here, your right he will have a hell of alot to prove. I can't see it being a productive move but will hope for our sake that it somehow some way could be. The only plus I can see is it doesn't cost us a player and it'll be a relatively cheap acquistion.Hopefully it won't be the only move that Bo makes. HFTO

If Gainey did talk to Corson ( and it may have been just a social call) it just shows you how slim the pickings are out there.
The guy has not played in almost a year and has no gas left in the tank. I just don't think he can provide the kind of leadership that almost got him voted captain of the Habs sevral years ago. And whose place does he take?
Pass.

I hope they don't get Corson, he was a brilliant player for the Habs once with alot of heart and grit, but please c'mon it's over.....I hate bringing back old players that once played here but that are completely past their prime

Corson looked after himself after deceiving the fans and the city when he bolted to Toronto. He also misled Houle as well. Houle gave him everything he asked for until it came time to sign the dotted line ... then he wanted $250,000 more plus a no-trade clause ... where did this come from?
Hope he's feeling better these days, but no thanks.
Cheers.

Does anyone have faith in Bob? I'm sure if he signs Corson, he'll have seen him work out and is happy with what he sees and thinks he can bring something to the habs. If not he won't sign, I have faith in Gainey to do the right thing.
My personal opinion, I think it would me an upgrade over some of our current fourth line centers and wingers. Perreault, Kilger and Dackell come to mind. And if Dagenais doesn't start putting the puck in the net he's pretty much useless as well. If nothing else, Corson is a veteran player with grit and play-off experience. This would be a good time to get him in the lineup, 24 games to go he'll be hitting his stride come playoff time and that's where we will need someone like Corson most.
PS. If there's any bad blood between him and the leafs it'll make for a great story before next week ends game.

Sportsnet also claims he was a centre with the Laffs. During one of the leafs - Sens playoff series Corson was put him at centre to cover Yashin. It worked because Yashin did nothing. I believe it was 3 -4 years ago when the 7th seeded leafs beat 2nd seeded Ottawa. But that is the only time I remeber him at centre in Toronto.

IMO, I dont think it would be the worst thing that BG could do. Corson has plenty of playoff experience and grit. Two things we could definitely use. Besides, I would love to have him back in Montreal just to see him beat the living heck out of Tucker.

You honestly think he would touch his brother-in-law and business partner??
It would make for an interesting family conversation .... especially when Shane's sister smacks the face off him .....

He's not coming to Montreal so that's a relief. I am glad as well. He was great in his previous stints with the Habs, but I am not convinced this is the missing piece that will get us over the top and into the playoffs.

He isn't. I find it interesting that Dallas would go after another Randy McKay type. I'm not sure what this does for them, except provide another warm body.
