November 27, 2004 By Leif SkodnickSpecial To ECHL.com Being a 19 year-old, second-round draft choice of the Montreal Canadiens while playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League might make a player feel as though all eyes in the Province of Quebec were on him. Not so for Long Beach Ice Dogs forward Cory Urquhart, who was taken 40th overall by the Canadiens in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft after finishing his third season in the QMJHL. - www.echl.com/cgi-bin/mpublic.cgi?action=show_news&cat=1&id=3303

Careful. After drinking absinthe, Oscar Wilde reported he saw orchids growing out of the floor tiles of the bistro. A few more swigs and you'll believe you're watching a tutu-wearing Howie Morenz on a breakaway at the Bell Centre.

I like Urquhart's attitude. A season of hardening in the ECHL should do him some good, hopefully mature his physical game a bit. Who knows, if there's a shake-up of the roster in Hamilton, as it well looks like there may be, he may get to move up this season.

The present crew is manifestly incompetent, and Komisarek's presence is badly needed. At that, Komi could use some dependable backup.

I wouldn't mind the re-signing of one of Traverse or Dykhuis to an AHL contract.
