The second ex-Vancouver Giants captain to be signed in recent history, and I like how the last one turned out!
Dalton had taken quite the step back in his development in his last year in Saskatoon, but really flourished (injuries aside) in this past season as Captain under Don Hay in Vancouver. The guy has jam and quite clearly more leadership skills than he was been given credit for in the Bridge City. Now we can let him develop in the minors and add to the defensive prospect pipeline.

I'm hoping he can turn into a tougher, stronger Gorges type...a #4. Good signing.

Good signing!!! I was alittle worried we were going to let him walk......Guy plays with a lot of heart.... Alittle worried about these injuries but fights and hits with the best of them....... his skills and frame seem better fit as a winger imo.....

I read somewhere that if defense doesn't pan out he could easily fill a third line role with scoring abilities. Tough as nails and nasty to boot. Add a dozen pounds and we have something here

Was wondering if anyone had heard about Throwers development. Surprised to see he is still with Brampton and not with the Icecaps. What's the knock on this guy. He seemed to have a lot of toughness and leadership qualities. 2nd round pick.

He has hardly played this year either in St. John's or in Brampton, and has often been a healthy scratch. He missed a ton of time last year to injury, so his development has very clearly stalled. Haven't been able to see him play this year due to his limited starts, so cannot really assess how he stacks up against the other D prospects, but the roster decisions do seem to indicate where the coaching staff feel he ranks. Mac Bennett is fading down the depth chart too. Ellis has played a total of 21 games in both leagues this year. By comparison, rookie Lernout has played 51 AHL games. Ellis Dietz, Johnston, Lernout and even Didier have passed Thrower...and then you can add the revolving door of tweeners like Barberio, Hanley, and Bartley who get the call.
The big surprise has been PEI native Morgan Ellis who has had a great offensive season and rebounded from a lot of time in the ECHL where it looked like he was stalling big time. He played 39 games in the ECHL last year, but really tore it up earning his call back up to Hamilton.

But under Terrein doubt he will get a legitimate chance
