One gunman. Justin Bourque is suspect. Heavily armed. 3 dead RCMP officers. 2 injured. Man hunt is on in Northern Moncton area. Buddy of mine lives in that area. He worked late, coincidentally, and is stuck at work as all the roads in the area are closed.

Another whacko.....
I just registered three guns in Greece. Part of the permit was a psychiatric evaluation. In fact, it cost me 20 Euros and the running joke with the cops on hand was that for 20 Euro's, I got a passing grade but for 50 Euro's, I would get a clean bill of health. Bad jokes aside, how do these whackos get permits?

If it fires full auto, it's illegal - whether he modified it himself or got it off the black market that way. There would be a couple of resources for him to obtain illegal fire arms in NB: natives from QC or Hell's Angels - which I believe still have something of a presence in NB. Given how well he's been evading police, you'd have to think that he'd been practicing/planning in some fashion for weeks leading up to last night.

I hope he puts one in his brain and saves us the mommy-didn't-love-me bs. Why the hell is this not happening in on ongoing basis in places like Greece? Dedpite the claim of tough gun laws, any citizen can own a gun with nothing more then his police id card, 20 Euros for a "pshyc" evaluation, which is basically a rubber stamp and no serious criminal record. They don't even have to take any courses. As for guns, semiauto, 7 round shotguns are 400 Euros, slug rounds 15E for 20 rounds, at close range, dmore devastating then hunting rifle and yet.....

CTV Atlantic interviewed someone who trains police and he called it a "Rambo Syndrome". It's a terrible misnomer. Anyone even remotely familiar with the movies and the character know that unprovoked he'd never do anything like that. Loner, yes. Crazed gunman on a rampage, no.

alive in police custody: shocking! I figured that he'd either (a) want to go out in a blaze of "glory", or (b) be taken out by a cadre of angry police officers.

Definitely thought blaze of glory would be the likely outcome. I'm sure many officers felt the same. Glad it came to a peaceful end as he gave up while in the back yard of a family home.

He did what a lot of these cowards do. He can ambush people but when it comes time to stand & fight someone prepared to defend themselves he bailed. What a chickensh!t.

Well this was the most scared I have been in my life. I was a 10 minute walk, 2 minute drive from where the shootings were. I had just gotten home from fishing with my son when I heard what sounded like hammering in the distance. Come to find out 10 minutes later what was really happening. This was close to home physically and emotionaly, my wife is a Member and her best friends husband lost his life and she knew the 2 other victims. I am so proud of our RCMP members who were heroic and unfortunatly some great people gave the ultimate sacrifice.
RIP Fab, Dave and Doug you will be missed and your children and family will be forever grateful.

Where was Bourque headed before the officers intercepted? What was his plan?
What a horrific event…..the family in the house trying to warn one officer that Bourque was behind him…..no chance.

Effen Rambo wanna'be...... Just heard he surrendered. I wish he ate one instead. I think he should die, 'trying to escape', but only after falling down a lot of stair treads. There have to be natural consequences for these jerks, and simply killing them, isn't sufficient, IMO. I'd keep him alive for quite a long time, but in a lot of pain and eventually remove him from the gene pool. And to think I don't believe in capital punishment in general. Guys like him though, don't deserve the normal due process.

For me I want to forget he ever exsisted. He does not deserve anyone's time of day or thoughts. The families he has destroyed are all that should be in our thoughts. It's going to be a long tough road for them.

If you act like a vicious animal, you forfeit the right to be treated like a human.

Thanks, and yes it's rare but when it happens now it's so mainstream with the technology now that I think it glorifies the monsters and stirs up and awakens more monsters that normally would not be confident enough of doing things like this. Sadly it will happen again and I am scared it will be sooner rather than later. (Already today in Halifax reports of a gunman)

I was in Moncton three days before the shooting. It was a terrible incident and I was concerned for my relatives there. It made my think how some people must be concerned for their relations in Iraq and Iran where three shootings is a very very quiet day.
