According to Joe Haggerty, CSNNE, the Bruins could be active in the trade market this summer ... according to Shawn Hutcheon of Fourth Period Magazine, Brad Marchand is now available ... would be interesting to see if he has the same successes somewhere else ... Cheers.

Another reason for Bergevin to be aggressive.
Let me tell you, that series loss was devastating for Bruins fans. The talk show chatter is still continuing and I was shocked by how much time was spent rejoicing over the Habs loss to the Rangers. I was in my car and Felger and Mazz must have spent a good 30 minutes talking about the Habs and taking calls from happy Bruins fans. What's notable is that Boston is a very parochial/provincial sports town - if a Boston team isn't involved, nobody cares. So the fact that the top rated afternoon drive radio show was talking about a series that the Bruins weren't even in is a huge deal. It's a border war now between Boston and Montreal. We are sufficiently in the collective psyche of Bruins fans, and the natives are restless after seeing a great season go down the tubes against their arch rival.
We'll see what the Bruins end up doing, but we need to match that intensity, the urgency, the drive to get better, to get back to the same spot again. I fear too many Habs fans, perhaps even Habs management, are "satisfied" with making the playoffs and a surprise run to the conference finals. I know I'm not and I know that our main rival in the division is now officially obsessed with beating the Habs next year.

Then they'd better find their magical drafting wands, because they haven't been that good at it since the Lucic, Marchand year. I discount the second overall pick and the 8th pick in a strong draft as even a blind darts thrower could come up roses in those situations. The core part of that team is aging (Chara - Bergeron). Chara especially is such a critical part of the defense and the Bruins physical mystique, that losing him for any period, or just having him slow down, will expose a lot of holes in the team. The brain trust probably realizes that.
I don't think Marchand may garner that much interest. Other teams know he's a headache and an attitude problem. He's also a very skilled player and moving to another team, may be the best thing for his career, or it may be a very very short career. Should be interesting. Marchand in something other than a Bruin Uni. Bummer of a Birth Mark Hal. (That's for those of you who may recall that Gary Larson Farside cartoon with the two deer).

Cheers. If they are smart, don't panic over loss to us, they still good team. Then make wrong trade. If I was them I would sign a Brodeur where Rask don't play well here. Marty usually plays us tough. Maybe even trade Rask if haul was big enough.

The "thank-gawd-the-Smurfs-didn't-win-the-Cup" has been alive and well on Facebook, as well ... I didn't see a lot of chirping from Habs fans when the Bruins went down, but almost all of the B's fans I know took that loss to Montreal personally ... and then the attacks came ... whether they said anything or not, Habs fans became targets all over social media and elsewhere ... mostly by despondent Bruins fans ... I don't know who Bergevin has targeted, but it would be nice to see us get better ... as you suggested, BH, the Habs are in the collective-heads of the city of Boston ... like it ... have to do it more often ... just to watch them spin ... #rightonCheers.

Every team is trying to improve. Already there are rumors that the Leafs are interested in Thornton. His playoff record is up for debate but he's a better player than Tyler Bozak & I wouldn't feel comfortable with him & Kessel on the ice together. I think Liewicke(sp?) will push Nonis hard to get better. The Spezza rumors are out there. Where he lands could really impact the Habs. And I read a rumor that the Penguins are interested in Mike Babcock. pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2014/06/06/rob-rossi-pens-not-out-of-running-for-mike-babcock/Teams want to make a splash & get better now, not in 2-3 seasons.

Look at 2011, we took them to overtime of game 7, it could have went either way. If they make panic moves likely be a mistake on their part. Like I said earlier, I would look to add a vet who plays well here, like a Brodeur. As Rask's weakness is Montreal. His save percentage was sub - .900% in 5 of 7 games.
