Says teh Habs are talking to Pitt about Letang. His medical history and huge contract is more than enought to scare me off. www.hockeybuzz.com

Not a good fit, even if the contract and medical history (stroke) weren't a factor.
While Eklund definitely has his sources within/around the league, this one smacks of being nothing more than a 'traffic generator' for his site.

No mention on twitter yet.....can't see it happening, he just doesn't fit. Maybe if Markov didn't sign?

Copy my post from other site.
Here's the rumour and opinion as reported by Spectre:
The Montreal Canadiens and Pittsburgh Penguins are in talks regarding Penguins defenseman Kris Letang. (SPECTOR’S NOTE: The only reason I can see for the Habs to have any interest in Letang – and for the record, I don’t believe they do – is if they feel they cannot re-sign P.K. Subban to a long-term deal and intend to trade him after he receives a new contract via arbitration in August. I also don’t see that happening. Acquiring Letang makes about as much sense for the Canadiens as trading Subban. )
It really doesn't make sense to me. Letang is a $7.25 price tag. We'd have to trade PK for it to make sense. Otherwise who plays the PP. PK and Markov and then Letang gets the next 15-20 seconds after PK gets off. PK and Letang, then what was the point in signing Markov. Trade PK and play Letang and Markov. Then we just got worst. This rumour makes no sense.

Things have slowed down in hockey circles, so he's got to find ways to generate traffic this time of year. Throwing out a Habs/Leafs rumour once or twice a month will do that.

In the area of "I really wish this were true", comes the rumour that Eklund is being given his walking papers by Hockeybuzz. An source wishing to remain anonymous (my imagination) said that Eklund's batting average of .0003 per rumour, is just not good enough for the major leagues. The source reports that replacements have been whittled down to two boards....Ouija and Dart.

Rumor stems from an interview Letang had on TVASport. He states that he met with new management and was told that their position on him hasn't changed from previous management, but he was asked to give his 15 teams to which he would accept a trade. Montreal is one of those teams. Once that went out, well, you get the picture.
Hey, If Pittsburgh take Bourque and swallows half of Letang's salary then why not? Other than that scenario, I don't see this happening.
Habs needs are at RW, not D.

I agree with Chrispn about where the rumor started… From that interview, then one rumor site says “what if”, and another “source” quotes that site without the “what if”, then another picks it up and so on and before you know it, you have an Eklund E4… …at the same time, given Letang’s health and contract, it would not surprise me if Rutherford is evaluating his options there and sending some “feelers” to certain teams… and really when a GM tells you “we won’t trade you”… it’s often the kiss of death.
