well, it didn't take long. first day back after the summer break and the team at TSN1200 (Mendes and Simpson) have already concluded that the Leafs, the Senators, and the Wings are better than the Habs . . . "the Habs are going to come back to earth" . . . PK and Price had something to play for last season and so don't expect much from them . . .
why oh why oh why do I listen?

(insert picture of Rodney Dangerfield) The same leafs that have missed the playoffs 7 out of 8 years & did little to improve. The Sens - the team no one wants to play for - see Alfredsson & Spezza. Who's going to lead them - Karlsson & his -15? Please. The Wings have done nothing in the off season. Their stars are aging & they are in decline. Questioning the motivation of Price & Subban shows me how little these morons know about the Habs.

They also take credit for making the Habs a bigger team ... they know what they're saying and why they're saying it ... more Habs fans they piss off the more Sens fans they'll have listening in ... to the average Team 1200 Sens listener, the Habs are a wonky franchise that are in awe of the Senators ... need to know when they start dissecting their club for poor performance ... I suspect it might not take too long ... but they'll be better than the Habs ... Cheers.

After reviewing their roster changes I think the Leafs have improved somewhat, However, their historical ineptitude over an eight-year span has little bearing on the 2014-15 season. I agree that the Sens and Wings haven't improved and may be weaker.

These yahoos should take a valium and recognize their bias. Fact is that if the Habs won the Cup this year most including them would say "Well you could see it coming with their young stars hitting their prime and the strides they've taken the last few years". If the Sens or Leafs got anywhere near a Cup, if they even made the playoffs, everyone would be astounded. The Sens are worse than last year and the Leafs may be marginally better but I doubt it.

I don't know if it is to stir up the pot, willful blindness, or out-an-out Hab-hating (I'll go with door number 3, Monte).

Sean Simpson is the worst... he is their nhl insider... he was assistant GM with the laffs when JFJ was GM... nuff said.

Sean simpson just announced erik Karlsson is the best defenseman on the planet I almost drove off the road when I heard him. Of course, there was a caveat: "when healthy". Ya, and I'm the best LW in the universe . . . if I could hit, skate, and put the puck in the net.

Any mentions of Karlsson's -15 last season? you'll notice that Simpson is now a talk radio host and no longer in management. I remember the 1st year he was on team1200 he was very impartial. Now he's a company shill who freely dispenses the Hens koolaid by the gallon. Hens fans drink it up. They rarely talk aabout the habs unless they have something derogatory to say. Try not to listen to them, prefer tsn690.

Sean simpson just announced erik Karlsson is the best defenseman on the planet Preparing the fans for a difficult season might be difficult to do, so focusing on Erik Karlsson to temporarily deflect that ... I used to think Karlsson was one of the best players on the planet just after his Norris win ... he's a phenomenal offensive talent but he tends to suck dirty bath water defensively ... it was unfair to dump the majority of blame on the recently-traded Jason Spezza ... I mean, things started falling apart just as soon as Daniel Alfredsson wasn't part of the team ... why didn't the team respond to Karlsson or Spezza ... Karlsson is a big part of their future, but so is Marc Mathot ... I honestly consider Mathot to be one of the best all-around d-men in the conference and if Bryan Murray can't sign him they'll lose their best defenceman, IMHO ... Murray still has to sign Bobby Ryan (48 pts/70 g) ... don't find Ryan to be all that significant a catch ... he might be capable of more, but he reminded me of a slightly better version of Pierre Dagenais (when he wanted to be) last season ... now he's missing Spezza down the middle ... is Kyle Turis the answer? ... oh yeah, the TSN1200 guy ... sounds like he's doing his job schmoozing the Sens faithful ... the Sens will have a hard working team but I'm not sure just how successful a season they're going to have ... honestly, I feel Buffalo has better leadership than Ottawa ... me thinks once that season starts going south, we'll probably hear Simpson start bashing that ... and the Habs just to make everyone feel good and keep them listening ... Cheers.

The Ottawa problem starts with Melnyk, who has given Bryan Murray a different CAP limit than most other NHL teams, so of course he's going to struggle keeping players. Tough gig for any GM, and Murray is one of the better ones.

Tough gig for any GM, and Murray is one of the better ones. The 50 mill internal cap is what's killing the hens. I think they'll lose Methot... over a difference of 300k/year. They had Alfreddsson leave, the basically pushed Spezza out the door and are hoping Turris can be a 1st line centre. I don't think Ryan will be back. I guess as long as the Sens win a handful of games against the Habs and Leafs, the sheep will still follow.
