Hamilton, playing without the injured Chris Higgins, lost to Manitoba 4-2. Ott (who replaced Higgins on the line with Locke and Milroy) and Kostitsyn scored the goals. The fourth Manitoba goal was an empty netter.
I'm perplexed by Tomas Plekanec's slump. In addition to a long scoreless stretch he went minus 3 in tonight's game. Jason ward has also been unproductive.

Manitoba came out and played a much better game, but Hamilton stuck with them right to the last shift, where Plecks lost the puck on the blue line with the goalie pulled leading to an empty netter. With Higgins injured and Hainsey sort of playing 4th line (with 7 D dressed), the team seemed to be missing a bit of the jump from the night before. Let's hope whatever mysterious injury that is plaguing Higgins isn't too serious.

I didn't see the game, but if Hainsey was playing on the 4th line instead of a regular defense spot, that does not bode well for Jarvis' opinion of him. I have a hard time believing Jancevski or Focht are better than Hainsey.

I have a hard time believing Jancevski or Focht are better than Hainsey. It was rather unusual considering I thought Hainsey was the Dogs' best Dman on Friday night. He was skating well, making good outlet passes (very few of the Dogs' Dmen do this with any consistency, if at all), he was playing strong along the boards behind his net, and generally anticipating well with stick work and body position in his own end. Jarvis now has Hainsey, while on the PP, going to the front of the net because of his size. So, I am not sure that Jarvis is all that upset with Hainsey. IMO, it was more of a factor that he was out of forwards with Higgins down, and had to dress the spare D, and Hainsey is versatile enough to play some shifts on D, on the PP, and as a 4th line forward. I would probably have put Daley on the 4th line since he thinks he is a forward anyway.

I agree with you NWT, I know exactly what Jarvis' thinking was, especially since he'd seen Bowman play Robinson in a similar manner. Robinson remained a much better defenseman than forward and I suspect the same of Hainsey. While improving your offense, it probably hurts the defense more so.
