Developments in Ukraine cannot be ignored ... Is it possible we might see another Cold War buildup? ... Rex Murphy's take is spot-on, IMHO ... how could a well-ordered world allow this to happen ... guess we're not as well-ordered as we think ...

Right now, I don't think there is a Country in the world will to stand up to Putin and Russia.

Like this video because it details the real reasons behind the conflicts around the globe right now ... it also validates Krassimir Petrov's essay on how the invasion of Iraq was more about saving the US dollar than it was about WMD ... it wasn't just about oil, but also about making sure oil sales stayed denominated in US dollars ... the same scenario unfolded in the removal of Ghaffi in Libya ... 22 minutes in length but it's a very revealing video:

The state of the US dollar has been an issue for me since 2008. So many world markets trade in it, that imo it was propped up massively. When our economy took a dump in the early 90s, the dollar had a realistic reflection of that. It was trading at 60 cents US. The US economy is still a mess, and where's their dollar? Looking down at all but the Euro and BP. It's a joke.

Right now, I don't think there is a Country in the world will to stand up to Putin and Russia. Standing up to Russia wouldn't be all that difficult. Their economy teeters. They're more oil dependent than the US. They're a two week blockade from bankruptcy. Putin and the oil tycoons can afford to wait it out, but the plebeians can't. Just like GoT, winter is coming. It's particularly long, and particularly cold, over there. Freeze them out.

With Putin it's hard to tell, he may be just crazy enough to do it, and that's why no countries "really" want to mess with them.

Putin is doing what he is doing because The Empty Chair is so weak. It's as simple as that.
Second....remember when I said that Canada should develop it's own nuclear deterrence? Still think I'm crazy?
