I've been going to the same service for about 10-12 years now. It's a little monument buried deep in a nearby neighbourhood and a local militia unit looks after it. When I first started going, there were about 30/40 people max. Now there's well over one hundred and the local school allows a class to attend. Met up with quite a few vets/friends this year.
Ottawa sounds good, though. I got home to hear CBC say that veterans from all over the country flocked to Ottawa this year just to march in the veterans' procession. I guess the turnout was outstanding. I'll talk with a couple of buddies and I'll see you there one way or the other.
Peace.

it was something. there is something special about "staying home" . . . but it was special here today. very respectful, as always . . . but a lot more crowded!
(always love the fly-past).

I was at the ceremony in Orleans and it was well done also. There was a 2 plane fly over.

There are practical jokes…then there's THIS. The dude should be put in the front line of a conflict. Then we'll see how well-"decorated" the bottom half of his uniform becomes.

There are practical jokes…then there's THIS. The dude should be put in the front line of a conflict. Then we'll see how well-"decorated" the bottom half of his uniform becomes. It's too bad but people like him just don't understand how easy it is to get caught these days ... Canada literally has a generation of war veterans and trying to pull one over on them just won't fly ... I never knew of him until the CBC made him into a story ... he's not the first and I dare say he won't be the last ... I won't waste my time on the putz ... the courts will take care of him ... it will eventually blow over, but the troops won't forget this guy ... oh yeah, if you think he has problems now, his wife is starting to question all of the weekends he was away "on exercise" ... Cheers.
