Here's a link to a few trade rumours for each team ... some of them are old news, but here's the one from the Montreal page: Rumor: The Edmonton Oilers are interested in Montreal Canadiens centers Lars Eller or David Desharnais. Analysis: The Edmonton Journal's Jim Matheson reports Oilers winger David Perron was linked with the Canadiens, but Montreal general manager Marc Bergevin won't part with Eller or Desharnais. Prediction: Eller was re-signed over the summer to a four-year, $14 million contract and Desharnais has great chemistry with sniper Max Pacioretty. Don't expect either guy to be traded this season.

DD's chemistry with Patches IMO is way over rated....a vast majority are screaming to try another option.... so the only explanation is Patches has spoken up in favour of his buddy who definitely launched his career in the AHL and in his 1st NHL campaign. If the Oilers want DD I would be allover it...but I can't see it having any real traction.

I don't see the Oilers being interested in DD either. They need size and skill up the middle. Habs and Oilers are not good trade partners under those circumstances.

I've thought the same thing. Nice pieces, but not necessarily what we need. According to "The Insiders", Hextall and Maloney read the riot act to players on their respective teams. Maloney went so far as to contact the agents of all players with NMCs and get their lists. He actually told them he was going to do it too.
Both teams have interesting parts. I'd love to have any of Simmonds, Voracek, or Couturier. Those are invariably the guys people would call about. No one is taking Lecavalier off their hands unless he tells them he's playing another year and retiring. They're okay cap-wise this year because of LTIR. Next year is a different story. 18 signed and only $1.8 million in cap space. If Berg could turn DD and Eller or Pleks into defensive upgrades and another scoring winger, Couturier is the 3rd line center. Not an offensive dynamo, but the quintessential shut down guy. Plays with edge; he'd instantly make us harder to play against. IMO, a young Mike Richards without the offense.
