Best use of our forward personnel….MUST give it a try. When Eller comes back, he goes on the wing, IF Desharnais is getting the job done on Line 3.
Displacing Andrighetto, most likely.
How about that? 2 of the 3 first liners now on the third line.
Glad to hear that DD and Max not only accepted it…but expected it.

It sounds like DD was expecting it much sooner, ergo the 100 million chances. It's probably going to be a real help to him as he won't be up against the best checkers on the other team and maybe he can rediscover his touch. This is more like putting people in positions where they can succeed. Vancouver will be tough, though, as they play a good system and if Miller or Lack aren't having off nights (like against the Leafs), they're a difficult opponent.

The big loser here is Plekanec. He gets to skate with two rookies and have all the fingers point in his general direction if the line doesnt perform. The one thing this shake up does show, or ought to make MB sit up and take notice, is that with Galchenyuk at center the Habs are very very very weak on the wings.

I wonder if MT changed the lines because he knows fans are pissed with the way the team has played on the road since Mr. Beliveau passed away and if he kept the lines intact for this game and they play the same way, there would be a hell to pay.

You no longer have anywhere near as much defensive responsibility so puts some points up.

Sekac has been amazing and Andrighetto scored in his first game…he'll be pumped for a few games yet. He no doubt wants to stay.
Pleks should LEAD BY EXAMPLE here.
How about the third line:
Bournival - DD - Parenteau
Sure would be nice if a "connection" was to be developed here….just for the story line!

He leads the team in points and is on pace for the third most points in his career, all the while doing it on the second line. Yet the attitude is he has to produce, like it is he who is the problem. But now he is going to get two rookies, one of which is a clone of himself, and the other has 1 NHL game under his belt. If anything I guess the coaching staff feels he can make anyone look good, but I think he is the only one here not put into a position to succeed. He lost BOTH his linemates.

I presume you mean give Pleks the C if he leads his new line mates toward success??? Unfortunately, as you know, the refs have a poor view of Pleks at the moment. Refs should respect the captain, no? Even Subban would have trouble in that regard. How about Gallagher….ooops. Ha! We seem to have quite the "official" problem.

I think Pleks gets some hate because he's not the most exciting player to watch. He's responsible, safe and pretty consistent... pretty boring I guess. He's had some awful linemates over the years. His production seems to hinge on the talent skating on his wings. I like Sekac and Andrighetto, but we should probably expect Plekanec's point pace to reduce somewhat. But when Eller is healthy again, I would put Galchenyuk back on the wing to get more talent over there, unless MB can pick up another scoring winger.

I love it when Pleks gets feisty. He's been a bit too passive for me lately, but one can't argue with his production. Personally, I think he'll be ok with Sekac and Andrighetto. Both at Euros, so they should see the game the same way and both have some higher end skill. We're not talking Bourque IQ here, so I think Pleks will be fine. Wasn't that the line that got our only goal against Dallas on a nice give and go between Ghetto and Pleks?

I expect him to be more aggressive and put up points when we need them. The same I expect from Max and PK and Markov. You wear the A you get the heat. I shouldn't be posting for a while.... I'm pissed at the players and coaches for the embarrassment of the past week and I'm bringing negativity to the board.

So what's the over/under on how long MThead keeps these lines together until he decides they're not producing to his liking and puts DD back with Patches?
5 min of play? (Not including PP/PK time)
I say he waits until the first penalty, by any team, then switches it up and blames the penalties as to why his lines were screwed up.
If DD and Patches were #1 and because they were number 1 they got first power play time. Does this mean we'll see a BG,AG,MP powerplay unit?

Step up with the new line mates. I like Pleks…I think he's one of the best utility players in the league….but he too often spends an entire game avoiding the physical stuff, which results in dishing off the puck too quickly….and to nobody. Even in the defensive zone. We've all seen Pleks at his best…and it's usually whenever he's in the middle of things and driving to the net.

I don't know if he really has any choice at this point ... Therrien finally has an opportunity to insert Galchenyuk at centre ... I think Pacioretty will do well with him ... here's the thing for me, though ... some of the players were surprised that it took this long to try something knew ... the players are now starting to speak up ... maybe Therrien should be listening ... Cheers.

We tend to get overly excited about one game , good or bad ... But if people think Andrighetto has a future on the Habs then I have swamp land in Florida to sell them

But if people think Andrighetto has a future on the Habs then I have swamp land in Florida to sell them Not sure where you get that I'm keen on Andrighetto. My main comment of him was that he was having trouble with the NHL speed. He started off at centre, which isn't his natural position and was later shifted to the wing, where he played better. The goal he scored was a decent one, with a good set of passes and decent finish. It's what all our wingers should be doing. The guy I'm much higher on is Charlie Hudon. That kids got a hockey IQ that's right up there and even though he's not big, nor all that fast for a smaller guy, I think he can be a scorer in the NHL. He's adapted to big guys in the AHL with no problem. The puck also seems to find him a lot, and that's a trait I really like in a player because it means he's going to the right places when he doesn't have the puck. Anyway, I understand where you're coming from WTR Andrighetto. You need more games to be able to judge him properly. He could be another Cammalleri, who knows? Cammy's 5'9" 190 lbs and Andrighetto's 5'9" 188 lbs.

I like the changes but i'm not giving MT any credit. 1) he's very late; and 2) he's doing this more to respond to Eller's injury than any progressive thinking.
MT should commit to Chuck at centre for at least 5 if not 10 games. It may be his "natural" position but he hasn't played much of it in the NHL or recently. He's entitled to some time to adjust. Not sure he'll get it from MT.
I like the lines. Max's line can now legitimately be called #1 and will be a handful with size, skill and tenacity. Pleks will do fine with Sekac. Sekac would even make me look good. Not sure about Andri as I think he's more of a DD than a Cammy, but he's entailed to a chance. The 'french connection lite' might just work. The best thing is that either Pleks or DD's line will be playing against a defensively challenged line on the other team and should excel.
If it doesn't work then hopefully the team can tune MT out and he can go the way of the fat bug-eyed walrus!

Not sure he'll get it from MT. The big question is what happens when Eller gets back. Whether MT wants to admit it or not, Eller has been the most important centre on the team when you consider his usage. He takes the most defensive zone draws, the toughest assigments, and he's still a positive Corsi player and on pace for 20 goals before he got hurt. He's basically taken over the Plekanec role on the team and doing it very well. A long way of saying that you can't just push Eller to the wing when he gets back and pretend like none of that other stuff mattered. And if you put Galchenyuk on the #1 line, then Desharnais is clearly the 4th best centre on the team. DD either works on the #1 line with Pacioretty or he doesn't work much at all, IMO. Not that he's not a skilled player, I just think we have better options on the top 3 lines. Instead of playing musical chairs with Eller, which Therrien loves, I think DD should be the guy that needs to adjust to the wing. It would allow him to stay in an offensive role and removes the defensive and puck retrieval responsibilities that are not his strength. Who knows, DD is a pretty savvy player. Maybe he'll thrive there, but MT needs to give it a try.

That is truly the correct move, BH. No more mollycoddling. Three guys have moved ahead of DD at the centre spot. He has to try his luck on the wing though that's not a great spot for him IMO. Maybe he can become Gallagher Lite.

Ironically, DEsharnais scored while separated from Pacioretty. not sure exactly what you mean here. that the Habs didn't do anything but shuffle chairs on the titanic and got lucky, and that we can expect them to fall apart next game? or that what happened was a breath of fresh air from games previous. hard to agree or disagree with you. all I can say is that just when I am ready to string MT up, here he messes me up again and does something good. he's getting harder and harder to dis every game
