It was such a bad play call to make. I know sportsnet came out and said that Lynch was 1 for 5 with the ball on the 1 this year, but hey, this is the superbowl and there is a reason why he is called best mode. I would of taken my chance with at least one run play to him or maybe even a QB sneak. Big fail.

Matter of fact, aside from maybe Tom Petty I can't think of a half time show that I enjoyed. I never looked forward to one. Paul McCartney maybe ... Cheers. Prince was amazing!!

Carroll said that he was trying to waste a play (who really called it?). if so, why not have him throw the ball over everyone's head? @strombo has a great pic but I can't embed it. nice to see Sherman quiet for a change. I dislike both teams but as a niners fan I strongly dislike the Seahawks. It was great seeing them screw up in epic proportion.

I thought it was dumb at first ,.. But now, I'm on the other side of the fence, I don't think it anywhere close to being the dumbest play ever.
They had 26 seconds, with one time-out. Their second best back in the league, (sorry but Demarco scores more, gets more yards, and was better from the one yrd line than "Least-mode") was 20% in similar situations all year. The Pats had their 8 biggest guys jamming the front line. If Lynch gets stopped, you have no choice but to burn your timeout and be forced to throw on third and fourth down. Remember, if they ran they'd be playing with less than 20 seconds, no timeouts. You ain't running then.
Now, how about this ... There were 109 passing plays from the 1 yrd line this NFL season. These passing plays resulted in a higher TD percentage than running from the 1 yrd line. Out of these 109 passing plays, Russell Wilson threw the ONLY interception. Low percentage play?? No no no ... The stats say otherwise.
Add to this that Wilson got the match-up he wanted. His receiver covered by a rookie, on a pick play ... The rookie read it beautifully and jumped the route. I say kudos to Butler, that was an amazing play by him. It's too bad everyone wants to pin the blame instead of giving him the credit he deserves.
The "dumbest" play in that game in my opinion was after the interception. There was 20 seconds left. The Seahawks defense didn't need to cram the line, and try to jump the snap count. No one was lined-up behind Brady. Just sit there and wait Brady out. He was going to take the delay of game penalty. Then what? If he kneels it's a safety, if he runs after the penalty you try to tackle behind the goal line. But you still had a chance. That offside was dumb!! You scored in the first half with 29 seconds on the clock. If you got that safety, you'd have about 15 seconds from your 35-40 to just get in field goal range.

disagree on the pass, Skilly. if you want to do it that way, then throw the fade, throw it deep, not into a jammed-up middle.
agree on the dumb penalty, though. woulda pushed it time-wise getting into field goal range . . .but who knows? a bit of a run-back (the Pats would have made sure the ball wasn't "fair-catch"able, to run time off the clock), a pass, a time-out (time for only the one play) . . . who knows?
made for an interesting end to the game, though.
and if the play had worked Belichick would have been the goat for not calling a time out but letting the clock run down.

If you are thinking fade, you have to think New England was too ... On the play EVERY Pat on the right hand side was fooled except Butler, who Wilson never saw. The slot receiver was suppose to shield but Butler got by...

Patriots fan for 30+ years, what a rollercoaster of emotions. Edelman deserved the MVP, though Brady's 4th quarter was top notch. I'll give on thing to Sherman, he was the first to shake Brady's hand at the end.

It's pretty clear they cheated. Whether it had any impact on the game or not is irrelevant. They cheated. Just like Olympic athletes losing their medals for accidentally taking cold medicine, the Patriots should lose the game. They deliberately broke the rules, not because they thought they were going to blow out the Colts and that it wouldn't matter, but because they thought it would give them an edge that might be the difference between winning and losing. Just like video-taping the Rams walkthrough the day before the Super Bowl, where the Rams actually walked through all the plays they intended to call in the Super Bowl, could have, and most likely was, the difference in a football game that came down to a last second field goal. They knew the plays the Rams were going to run, and just like a batter knowing what pitch a pitcher is going to throw, this gave them an unfair advantage and WON them the game. They cheated with the footballs. Again, not because they expected that the tampered with balls would result in a blowout, but because by tampering with the balls they hoped to get that slight edge that would win them a close game. AND it should be noted that the Colts were tipped off to the Patriots deflating the balls by the Ravens who suspected that the Patriots did it in their game too. A game that the Patriots won on a touchdown pass with five minutes left in the game. A close game in other words. It will never happen of course - $$$ - but they deserve to forfeit that game. Goodell doesn't have the clout or the stones to pull that off. They'll just ignore it. Bah, I'm bitter. Keith Olbermann: www.youtube.com/watch?v=N50xBZQBZGY&feature=youtu.beThe NFL agrees, Brady cheated. And lied. And paid of employees to deflate balls for him. Now will the NFL do the right thing? Suspend Brady for 10-16 games, and Belichek for the entire year. The precedent is set. New Orleans. Sean Payton was suspended for the entire year even though he knew nothing about Bounty-Gate. The NFL ruled that he should have known. Anything less in this case would be hypocritical. Tom and Bill are still laughing, they got their Super Bowl and the legacy they wanted.

It's not exactly the first time they've cheated either. Stealing signals ...
