7 Habs picksDidn't know Lernout is 6'4", along with Tinordi they'll add much needed size to our D corps.

Lernout showed some offensive flare this season. He's a big lad to be sure. It's nice to have that many prospects in the post season.

A goal and assist for Mike McCarron on Friday and the GWG tonight vs Peterborough. It's a bullet. Really.

He was really impressive. I don't know if he always does it, but he played a 200 foot game last night.
He's got pretty good wheels. Decent hands, and he's not afraid to lay the body. Noticeable every shift.

I love how he recognized the rush, and left his zone hard. He charged up the middle of the ice, accepting the pass. He doesn't lumber. He might not be fast by NHL standards, but with his size he's going to be very hard to slow down. I don't think skating will be an issue for him at the next level.

Great line.

"That's a scud missile right there". Great line. Shades of the Desert Storm tv coverage ...

I thought scuds never hit the spot? Maybe I'm not remembering right, this one did.

Tim Bozon had two goals and four assists last night, and the Ice still lost the game. Not sure what shocks me most.

Tim Bozon had two goals and four assists last night, and the Ice still lost the game. Not sure what shocks me most. My good buddy was at the game. Ice tied it with 4 seconds left, but couldn't pull it out in OT. Reinhart had 5 points, so that line was hot. Goaltending was not as the 8-7 score would suggest.

What is going on with Scherbak...he's scored 1 point in 3 playoff games?

Finished with a goal and an assist. The Silvertips won 3-1. Scherbak second star after their goalie. That should make us feel better.

Oshawa through to round two. No points for McCarron in a 3-2 win over the Petes. Peterborough's goalie, Matthew Mancina, has been outstanding. 50 shots against and only 3 goals. He's had 50 shots in other games too. Maybe Mike got robbed various times. Typical Hab.

An update on how the kids in the CHL are doing:
Jeremy Gregoire - 8 pts in 5 games, his team is through to the second round Daniel Audette - 6 pts in 6 games, his team was just eliminated last night Zach Fucale - Quebec are playing the deciding Game 7 tonight
Nikita Scherbak - 3 pts in 5 games, they are playing game 6 tonight and can wrap up the series with a win Brett Lernout - lost in first round of the playoffs, reassigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs for the remainder of the season Tim Bozon - 9 pts in 7 games, the Ice were eliminated by Calgary last night in Game 7
Mike McCarron - 3 pts in 5 games, Oshawa plays Niagara in the second round

Two more lads advanced last night. Fucale was in net for Quebec's big game seven win. The Silvertips took three OTs to win their game six 2-1, so they and Nikita advance to round two as well. Scherbak was held pointless.
EDIT: Oh yeah, Bozon has been reassigned to the Dogs for their last five games on the season too.

I saw a twit somewhere that said that Fucale was backup in post season, true or false? He had worked himself into the back up role, but I'm not sure if that's still the case. The other guy had a bad outing, Fucale replaced him and may have played in the final of the first round, a winning game. Furthermore....he played in teh first game of the second round against Charlottetown, which was a win. He faced 31 shots and gave up 2 goals.

Fucale is the starter again. Gregoire had three goals and two assists. Baie Comeau up 2-0 now. He is gold in the post season.
6th rounder.

Scherby with two goals after two. Helped the lads take a 3-2 lead. Hope he/they can keep it going.

Gregoire is second in playoff scoring with 7 goals and 8 assists in 7 games. Nik Ehlers is ahead of him. Sixth rounder and he would have possibly been on the Canadian WJC team if not for an injury. He looked good in their early camps. He's a leader and it seems he can score too. Did I mention he's a right winger? Not big, though at 6' 190 lbs. Not small either. Another late Timmins pick who's looking like he should have been chosen much earlier.
Five minutes left in the first OT in the Silvertips game. It's tied at 3-3 and Scherbak has those two goals NWT mentioned.

Portland won it in double OT, Scherbak still named first star in a losing cause. Series tied at 1-1.

Tried to find video of it, but no luck so far. McCarron ended up 3rd star as well, with two points. Fucale won today as well, 4-3 in a game that went 19 minutes into OT. He stopped 32 of 35 shots, so a solid outing for him.

Thanks NWT. Gregoire has surprisingly soft hands. You could see that on the goal he scored (a PP I think), where he picked up a rebound as he was standing behind the icing line and softly banked it in off the goalie's pads. That's one thing Mark Stone is really good at. He's scored a number of goals where the puck wasn't shot hard at all and often it just glides along the ice. He places it well, though. If Gregoire can be our Mark Stone...perfect. I think he's got some real grit, too. Not afraid of the rough stuff at all.
