Sullivan traded to Nashville for 2nd round picks in 2004 and 2005.
Sulivan has scored 20 goals 5 straight years and 60 points in 4 straight years. You kinda have to wonder why Chicago would just rid themselves of Sullivan for so little. It's not like 20 goals scoring 2-way players grow on trees, even if they are as tiny as Sullivan.
However, you have to realize that Sullivan and the Hawks were headed towards a contract dispute. Bob Pulford mentioned that the money for Sullivan can be much better spent on the Free agent market.

He'll help the Preds. Good deal for them.

A great deal for the Preds and it should really help them in getting to the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

Holy crap, that's good for Nashville. In the past few weeks Sullivan has really impressed me, he seems everywhere on the ice, a real good player...very underrated IMO.

Steal of a deal for the Preds, he will be amazing with bangers and crashers like Walker, Hartnell and co.

Love the deal for the Preds. Sullivan is one of the best little men in the league. He can play RW or centre too. When, and if, Daze comes back to the lineup Sully's gonna be missed. Pulford just continues to prove how out of touch he is. Contract dispute is a dodge. Sullivan wasn't likely to ask for more than Saku's ceiling. IMO, Pulford's wrong to think that money can be better spent. It's a good time to be a Preds fan. The market is strong there, the team is good, management is willing to go the extra mile to make a run, etc. Sullivan isn't gonna know what to think leaving Chicago. The Preds are looking like this years Anaheim/Minnesota.

He plays big though. Sure he's tiny, but it hasn't stopped him yet. As has been pointed out, Nashville has some good bangers to surround him with. The deal is a good one for Nashville. Big, or little, time.

Considering the outlook for the Blackhawks this season and their plans for rebuilding, this was fine for them. Nashville has different objectives, and it's fine for them too.

I am not that impressed with Chicago... they should've at least got a 1st round pick... if not, than a player that can play in the NHL....
Good trade for the Preds, should secure them a playoff spot...
Now, times for Gainey to move...

But, but, Sullivan having 5 consecutive 20+ goal seasons and heading toward a 6th . Isn't that against some NHL Size Law or something?

People keep giving this guy up for less than his value. Heck, Quinn put him on waivers and got nothing for him.
I guess the Hawk players knew the season was over a long time ago but trading your best player for a couple of picks brings the message home with a resounding thud. After they trade Zhamnov I guess they can take part in the Ovechkin sweepstakes.

while sullivan isn't exactly what we needed, I'd sure like to see us steal an established 20-30 goal, 60-70 point under 30 year old winger for two 2nd round pics...
Though I've loved what Gainey has done with the team thus far with low level signings and buying out the dead wood, I'd like to know is when will st-bo start building up our on ice value through valuable additions?

Bob Pulford mentioned that the money for Sullivan can be much better spent on the Free agent market. Sullivan is looking for about 3 million /year. Does Pulford really think he can attract free agents with that kind of money?

I know this is a week old but is this deal ever paying dividends. Sullivan was just named offensive player of the week - 5G & 5A in three games.

Steve Sullivan is a fine player, but his price made him out of the Habs' bracket.
