Wednesday night, February 23rd at the Copps was good for the Dogs as they skated to a 4-3 win against the Baby Leafs. This was their 4th straight win at home, their second straight against the Baby Leafs, and a critical two points against a division rival. This was also the Dogs' 4th win in their last 5 games. Pretty important two points tonight. Special teams were on fire as the Dogs had two short-handed, one on the PP, and one more one second after the end of a PP. Danis was solid in net with 33 saves for the W. Higgins and Milroy lead the way with 1g 1a each. For those that didn't watch the game on Sportsnet, that Higgins short-handed goal was a beauty. Hope you see the highlights. www.canoe.ca/Bulldogs/News/2005/02/23/940341.html

Nothings quite as satisfying as beating the Leafs. Yum. The Sportsnet guys mentioned at one point that "if you squint it is like an original six game." No squinting needed for us Habs fans.

Watched the game on RDS. Hainsey looked brutal in his own end. He might be good with the puck but he is tentative going into the corners (doesn't like to get hit) and his outlet passes leave something to be desired.

No, he and Komo are skating with the team to get into game shape. The word from the Hamilton Spectator reports is that Begin may be ready tomorrow night against Rochester, and Komo is likely to see his debut within the next two weeks or so.

I watched part of the game against the moose last night. I swore i saw begin on the bench, but didn't see to see him on the ice. Re: Hainsey, i don't think he's ever going to have what it takes to be an nhl defenceman. If he was a 2nd or 3rd rounder we wouldn't even be talking about him. Its too bad he has all the physical skills, i just think he's lacking a little between the ears. He reminds me of brisebois without nearly as much skill. Makes a lot of bad mistakes in his own end, and his offensive numbers are very lacking.

He reminds me of brisebois without nearly as much skill. That . . . is . . . scary!

I watched part of the game against the moose last night. I swore i saw begin on the bench, but didn't see to see him on the ice. Begin did play in the Manitoba game last night. He was quite active physically throwing a number of checks and he managed a shot on net, but no points.

Its too bad he has all the physical skills, i just think he's lacking a little between the ears. He reminds me of brisebois without nearly as much skill. Makes a lot of bad mistakes in his own end, and his offensive numbers are very lacking. I watched him too. Jarvis had him out in important defensive situations, but strangely, not on the PP. My biggest compalaint with him is his lack of commitment. He's gotta get his nose a bit dirtier. Some time in the weight room and at the pharmacopia to get his strength up and then some testosterone pills to grow some hair on his chest and he'd be a lot better. Yes, there was an instance or two where I wondered about his decisions, but he made good ones at other times, so I don't see that as a deficiency worse than the 'chest hair' problem.
