Sergei Fedorov, Phil Housley, Niklas Lidstrom and Chris Pronger elected to the Hall of Fame.
The Pronger selection is an eye opener. For starters, he isn't even retired. He is on LTIR, if he was retired there'd be no cap relief for teams.

Pat Burns had to die before he could get into the Hall of Fame, but Pronger doesn't even have to retire.
Ridiculous.

The HHOF has the lowest standards of any sport, IMO, for entry. Groucho Marx's quote aptly fits the HHOF, not wanting to belong to any club that would have him. Too bad, because there are some very deserving people there, and a number who shouldn't be.

And the Rock and Roll HoF is another such case.
Chris Squire, monumentally-influential bassist for YES, died last weekend from leukemia…..and neither he nor that great band is in.
I know there's a long list of the deserving who will eventually be inducted….but there are also many head-scratchers who are in, and many who will get in, based solely on politics (deals/favours) with members, or friends of members, of the nominating committee.
And there are many deserving bands/individuals who will never get in, because they either haven't cultivated or won't cultivate those "relationships". Doesn't matter how much success they enjoyed.
I think it's a shame that Claude Provost remains out of the HHOF. Every player and builder who has won 8 Cups is in. Provost was a member of 9 Cup teams in Montreal. And an integral member, too….the Bob Gainey of his era.
