Seven years and $7.5 million per.
I didn't think he was worth his last contract. Nothing really changed.

His contract is odd. $1mm a year in salary. The rest is structured as bonuses paid once a year. Makes it less worthwhile to buy out. That's a positive outlook for a brand new player. Can't help feeling good we didn't chase this guy. Bonuses also are guaranteed even if there is a stoppage

Sometimes the best moves are the ones you don't make.

Wonder if the league will cap the amount of a contract that can be bonuses.

Nope, that's performance bonuses, .... , well this is a huge loophole. The signing bonuses are protected from escrow, so I can see more players asking for peanuts in salary, but the moon in signing bonuses.

I'm stunned by the amount the Sabres are paying ROR. He's the new Bobby Holik.

The signing bonuses are protected from escrow, so I can see more players asking for peanuts in salary, but the moon in signing bonuses. Contract breaks down $11 million, 9, then 8.5 and $6 million for the last 4 years. The signing bonuses, payable in lump sums, are 10, 8, 7.5 and 5 million. It all counts towards the cap, but that escrow dodge isn't going to win him any friends amongst his piers. "I'm too good to pay escrow". League better lock that down quick, and I can't see the union fighting it to be honest.
