He did not have to be signed until next summer, but it gets another bit of business out of the way for the Berg. This contract will slide as he is junior aged and will return to Sherbrooke in the fall. canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=775524

... relocated from the main board ... kind of anticlimactic given the Semin signing ...

MB loves signing these guys fast..... The only reason I can think of is to do these prospects a solid and they get a signing bonus to help them get thru junior, way below minimum wage salaries
Audette is a bit of a puzzle, sky high skill level but he regressed on both sides of the rink last year. So it's up to him, is he a Derek Roy or a Corey Locke??

Sherbrooke isn't a deep team imo. He scored 3 less points in 8 fewer games. In that time he scored 8 more goals, and improved his +/- dramatically. He also gained playoff experience this year and was ppg. He'll be a 20 year old player this season. We'll see how he manages.

Very inconsistent from the start of last season where he was a force to the middle to end of last season where you had no idea what you where getting.... Pretty much how he was as a 18 year old.....I expected more as a 19 year old. Perhaps my expectations where too high? In my mind if you are plateauing at this age something went wrong( injuries, confidence, intensity etc) He's got the talent and pedigree to be at the top of the league's scoring so hope he breaks out big time

He started last season off on an incredible tear, and then cooled off for a long stretch in the middle of the season. Sherbrooke's lack of depth may have been a factor, but it is not surprising to see teenagers with consistency issues. I think the Habs ended up with very good value for a 5th round pick, but no doubt his size played into why he dropped in his draft year. Will he ever make it out of the AHL? Who knows, but this will be a big season to see how much offense he can carry for his team (which followers of the Q say will be stronger this season).
Anyway, this was the only unsigned prospect that the Berg had to formally sign by next summer, so that part is out of the way. Although he still has two years to sign Reway and Lehknonen, the team may make a push to sign them to an entry level deal and lure them over to NA next off-season.

Got to admit he he is on he is red hot. But he's a conundrum to me.
