Price starts the 7th with a bloop single.
It might come unravelled here.

Double-play ball at the right time.
Last chance, Jays. Down by a run. Hopefully, Bautista gets another crack at it.

Donaldson grounds out.
Series over.
Couldn't cash with RISP when it really counted. Runners on the corners....nobody out. Season on the line. Nothing. But a fantastic season by the Jays. Captured a ton of attention.
Hats off to Davis. He pitched out of it against some of the Jays' best.
KC is one solid team.

Not a baseball geek, but from what I saw this year, he had a bad first game vs. Texas....and said he was nervous.
Vs. KC, Price pitched very well in Game 2...6 strong innings....then the Goins/Bautista confusion in the bottom of the 7th. Followed by Goins and Tulo getting crossed up on what could've been a double-play ball.
Couldn't pitch out of it.
Last night, he gave up 2 homers over the first two innings...but got his game together....and left at 3-3 with a man on second. But they'd started hitting him hard again. Revere with a catch deep left field near the top of the fence....and Goins stopping a shot between 1st and 2nd.
Price is now 2-8 in the post-season over his career. And one of the wins was in long relief in Game 4 vs. Texas.
Not much run support vs. KC, though. Only 3 runs each game.
Jays were 0-12 with RISP last night....of which Donaldson went 0-3 (including the final out), and Tulo was 0-2.
Not gonna win many games with that stat.

I didn't like the clear change in the strike zone for the top of the 9th, especially after Pompey stole two bases to get into scoring position. Alas, not all runs are destined for championships.

So now the Jays are not bring Alex Anthopolous back as GM(rejected contract offer). All the goodwill created with this playoff run, shot out the window.

Gregg Zaun believes there was a power struggle. Zaun on the Jeff Blair ShowThe sense is that Gibbons will also not be back.

As a fan, I'm not happy. I think he had an outstanding year. Donaldson, Tulo, Price, Revere, Lowe, Hawkins, Travis, Martin, Estrada, Guerrero Jr. These are really good players. Definitely a power struggle where then President can't just keep his nose on business affairs and not the personnel side.

Remember that the MLSE negotiations with Shapiro took place early in the season when AA didn't look as great as he does now. Shapiro missed the GM part of the job in Cleveland and wasn't about to go back to that non-involvement with player selection. What MLSE missed was that AA had done a great job with drafting and organizational player development. It laid the foundation for the Donaldson deal and the July trades. He rebuilt all that in 2 years after stripping the system in the Miami and Mets deals 3 years ago. He's learned about character and team building, and just as he enters his prime, Shapiro isn't willing to give him authority.
MLSE will look back on this as Shapiro's first major mistake and it's a gigantic one. You don't lose great talent, unless you're a Toronto team I guess.

Beeston was hands-off as President and CEO. Shapiro is hands-on. Either AA is a control freak….or he knows that Shapiro will be a hindrance. from what I've heard . . . too hands on.

Any sources? if that's true, that's typical Toronto, isn't it? Don't even recognize success when they have it. The other option is that, as newly named Sporting News MLB Executive of the Year, AA wants to capitalize in a U.S. baseball Shangri-la. He can afford to wait….

Talking to a few American baseball enthusiasts here in Vegas and even they're asking what's up with that ... AA will not be waiting long for work ... imagine him building a World Series winner elsewhere ... is this the Blue Jays or the Leafs? ...
Cheers.

Shapiro wants to have the last word. Even though its Rogers, its eerily similar to Lou Lamoriello's situation with Shanahan. Who has the final say on players?

No doubt that the Jays lost to the best overall team in the league.
The Royals came back 8 times in final innings during these playoffs (I think that's what they said last night).
Their starting pitching kept them in it….then their bullpen was pretty much a guaranteed shutdown, allowing them to take advantage of the weaker pens of the opposition.
Last night was the icing on the cake.
Many Mets' fans are likely ripping Collins for sending Harvey back out to start the 9th with a 2-0 lead….but Harvey was rolling along and looked strong.
After walking the lead-off man, though….perhaps Collins should've made the move.
But maybe it wouldn't have mattered anyway.
Gotta feel good for Royals' fans, too. 30 years between their 2 World Series titles.
And they beat the Jays in the ALCS along the way to win both.
1985…the year they went to best-of-7 in the LCS. Toronto had a 3-1 series lead. Doh!
