But only to a Western team. He cites a deep, personal family reason for wanting to be closer to home (which is Winnipeg). www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=788701I've always liked him as a player, and wanted him for the Habs. We'll see what kind of deal Snow can pull off here. He's not under any immediate pressure as apparently he's know since before the season started that Hamonic wanted out, so I suppose he'll wait for a good deal. Edmonton seems like the most likely destination - perhaps something around Yakupov?

. . . and Hamonic has said that he's willing to stay until a decent trade is made. one must wonder how he fits in to the dressing room now, as a person just waiting to leave.

ESPN did a great piece on Travis last year. Travis lost his father at a young age to a heart attack. He started a project with the Islanders where he brought in children who'd lost parents for every home game. He spends time with them, gives them tours, and offers his personal email address to provide any sort of support they may require going forward.
I don't think this is a situation where he 'wants out of NY". It's more about being closer to his family. Perhaps his mother is ill.
Neither he nor the Islanders GM leaked the story. It was both of their intentions to keep it under the radar. He seems like a very good team mate, so I don't think it will be a distraction for the group.

We had success trading with Islanders before. Wonder if Habs can get involved in this as part of three team trade? Offer Elemin and Eller and get scoring winger for Galchenyuk?

Just a heads up that Hamonic has decided he wants to stay with the Islanders.

Just a heads up that Hamonic has decided he wants to stay with the Islanders. Guess he didn't want to live in Edmonton.

. . . and Hamonic has said that he's willing to stay until a decent trade is made. Seems awfully gracious of him ... Cheers.

Calgary is closer. PS. I don't mind Edmonton, though in all honesty, after spending 10 years in Fort St. John (same climate), I think I prefer the Shuswap.
