I agree ! We are definitely a MUCH better team with Price. But we are certainly not a bad team without him. If we can just keep a .500 avg., for even a month, we would likely still be close to the top of our division, if not conference.

If the great play on special teams continue, I feel okay without Price until Christmas. The boys playing good hockey now.
But you know I think well there is no Gallagher until January and Plekanec and Pacioretty are inconsistent producers this season even strength. Galchenyuk is more a power play point producer considering the wingers on his left and right for his regular shift. The Desharnais line pleasant surprise for me even strength (17 goals in 23 games) but I cannot help wonder if opponents will adjust and dry spells just occur for guys like Weise and Fleischmann.
So if anything worry me it is maybe the composition of team (now one true top six winger) and the sustainability of 3rd and 4th line scoring. Price can just shut the door and makes rivals doubt themselves. Condon needs the current level of offensive productivity to keep his win percentage where it is now.

Condon does a good job stopping pucks, but his puck handling skills are nowhere close to Price's. CP just makes things so much easier for our defensemen when they're coming back to retrieve the puck.
We'll do fine with Condon in nets, but I expect the defense to struggle at times when dealing with Condon's weaker puck handling (and weaker rebound control too for that matter).

The club has yet to confirm the RDS report. I don't know if we can make it that long with Condon. We may have to shop for insurance

If I remember correctly (admittedly an iffy proposition these days) last year Tokarski was OK if he played 1 game at a time now & then but fell apart if he had to play a bunch in a row.
So if Condon plays good when he's not tired and Tokarski can spell him say 1 game in 4 they might do OK.
My guess is that Bergevin doesn't trade for a backup unless the goal tending turns into a complete disaster. But that's all it is, a guess....and I'm not good at guessing.

You're right, drkcloud. Therrien denies the report (the article's been edited to include this).

Yes, he said he hasn't heard from the doctors, Carey, etc. himself, so how could someone else know more at this point. Someone else is speculating. I tend to agree with that speculation and think his recovery will take a month at least. I'm guessing a groin injury (more speculating on my part) and a return around the new year. I think I'm going to hang up my medical shingle tomorrow. I can't be any worse than Dr. Recchi. I'll buy lots of liability insurance.

We aren't missing the playoffs, so making a trade that will amount to possibly saving a few points is (can I say it?) pointless. Nope, just stick with Condon and play Tokarski once every 10 days and go with it. If Carey isn't good by the New Year, then the matter needs to be revisited.

We're not playing for the President's Trophy, we're playing for the Stanley Cup. We're rolling four lines; may as well get into the rhythm of rolling three goaltenders (so to speak). If anything, it'll teach our players to keep the foot on the gas and keep trying to get 3+ goals per game, especially against stingy defensive teams.
