Sullivan’s first order of business is figuring out how to get Sidney Crosby and the Penguins’ offence back on track. They are built by Rutherford to run like thoroughbreds but Johnston seemed to tug at the reins.
not saying a thing . . .
oh, hold it, maybe I did . . .

I watched Johnston's Portland Winterhawks for many a season. They were very impressive. No reins there.

A question perhaps worth asking: Coach killers in the Pens' leadership? Crosby, Malkin, Letang….or combo thereof….
Therrien, Bylsma, now Johnston…is Sullivan a rest-of-season plan? It's not as if he's had a stellar head coaching career. Only 2 full seasons with a Bruins' team that was upset in Round 1 by the Habs in '04, then missed the playoffs the year after the lockout.
A decade ago….
If he's not ready for prime-time….Rutherford will be looking quickly, if he isn't already….
Boucher?

Exactly. Rutherford got extremely lucky once with Ward playing out if his head and Williams taking out Saku's eye. Other than that fortune....nada. Stupid if Mario to hire him. C'mon Berg, take Rutherford for a ride.

I'm certainly of the camp that thinks the current leadership in the locker room are coach killers. Not just that, but line mate killers too. There's a lot of work to do to that roster. They lack scoring from the wing. Crosby isn't the player he was 5 years ago. Letang is a forward who plays defense, and the rest of the group is pretty thin. MAF is a decent goalie who has serious issue getting up for big games (imo).
