...Internet whispers that a trade for Wayne Simmonds couldn't be completed in time before the holiday freeze... BLNY & I were musing about this a little while back. Does this mean that talks will resume or the idea is ut on hold? We were both liking it then & I like the idea more now. I think something must be done to shake this team out of its lethargy.

...Internet whispers that a trade for Wayne Simmonds couldn't be completed in time before the holiday freeze... Are Internet whispers more or less credible than "Insider Sources"?

I've seen Beaulieu for Simmonds about a month ago. Would you do that?

I've seen Beaulieu for Simmonds about a month ago. Would you do that? Hard to say no, even though Beaulieu is a very valuable player.

There's a few rumours/speculations on Twitterverse ... I heard about this deal before, but I wasn't so sure of it ... Wayne Simmons provides the same thing for the Flyers, as Brendan Gallagher does for the Habs ... a lot of the Flyers' success this year has been because of what Simmons provides ... having said that, I'd be surprised if it went down player-for-player, and I'd be even more surprised if it went down at all ...
Cheers.

I've seen Beaulieu for Simmonds about a month ago. Would you do that? you have to give to get . . . even though it is difficult. an actual player will go, not a reclamation project or a "you never know". if Tinordi gets a chance to prove himself and actually does, then yup. but I'd counter with Gilbert

I've seen Beaulieu for Simmonds about a month ago. Would you do that? While I'm a firm believer that Nathan is the heir apparent for Markov, I'd still do the deal. It would take more than Nathan though. Wayne's cap hit is $3.975 million. Nathan's is $1 million. We'd have to send more salary back. Gostisbehere has been very good for the Flyers this year, but they could definitely use more young, and in some cases better, defenders. If they'd take Kassian, Berg would have the space. Given the pieces we're offering, we'd have to give up a decent pick too imo. Simmonds for Beaulieu, Kassian, and a second.

I doubt the deal happens Simmonds is one of the few cap friendly players Flyers have. If it is true it's going to take another top prospect and maybe a pick. With the Flyers in cap hell they have to hit a home run for a proven quality player like Simmonds.

Habs eye on the prize has a good analysis of why this potential deal isn't happening. I tend to agree. Philly has 3 good defense prospects though all are younger than Nate.
