Well, Wildcard weekend is in the bag. Thank *the deity of your choice*. That was 4 of the worst football games I've seen. WC weekend is usually some of the best. 4 duds this year. There were more low lights than highs.
Chiefs vs Texans
Chiefs were the road team thanks to the Texans playing in a weaker division. 30-0 was the final in favor of the Chiefs. I stopped watching early because it was such a snoozer. Biggest story is likely the injury to Watt that will require surgery.
Steelers vs Bengals
This one likely had the most drama. Started with coaches and league officials at mid field during warm ups to keep the teams apart from one another. Lot of bad blood. It was a particularly chippy game that never really saw the officials get control. The Bengals' Vontaze Burfict (LB) spent as much time chirping the Steelers bench as he did make plays. He got awful close to their bench a couple of times. IMO, were I an official he'd have gotten penalties for them and potentially been kicked.
Steelers had a 15 point lead in the second half. Bengals did well to chip away and eventually take the lead 16-15. They had it in the bag. A fumble by Hill gave the ball back to Pittsburgh. Then it really went to $hit. Burfict intentionally head hunted Antonio Brown. Clear intent to injure. Should have been tossed, but there was only 1m25 left. 15 yds. While Pittsburgh coaches are tending to Brown, former player and current coach Joey Porter ( a renowned yapper) said something that incensed Adam Pacman Jones (who has his own sordid history). Jones proceeded to shove Porter. He got 15 yards. Those 30 yards in penalties put Pittsburgh in field goal range. They run the clock down, kick it, and win.
It's about the worst display of self control I've seen. Ever. It went on most of the game, and culminated in those two punking themselves out of a win.
Seahawks vs Vikings
-6f to start the game in Minnesota. The ball must have felt like a concrete block. Both offenses struggled. Play of the game is likely Wilson recovering a blown snap, circling the wagons, and finding a receiver down field. He turned what could have been a 20 yd loss into a first down. Still, near the end the Vikings had a chance for a 4th fg and the win from 27 yds. Holder failed to spin the laces out and kicker shanked it. Seahawks win.
Packers vs Redskins
Redskins had control early. Rodgers getting sacked left and right. For another week. Skins failed to get many points from it. Eventually the Packers offense got going and really ran away with it. 35-18 the final
Here's hoping the divisional games are more entertaining - as long as the Broncos win!
