The other goalie is Wayne Rutledge. I think the player between Joyal and Sawchuk is Real Lemieux. Can't find a good picture earlier than 73-74….but I'd say it's him. Lemieux CardThank you, hockeydb….and Google images….

The perfect trade…the Big M was instrumental in 2 Cups…in what could've easily been a 6-year dry spell (69-70 to 74-75) before the Lafleur gang hit their stride….

It was the perfect trade, CH ... Mickey Redmond had back-to-back 50-goal seasons and 42 goals the year before that ... one of the best wrist shots of his day ... Cheers.

Yep…and a chronic back ailment forced Redmond into an early retirement…only 28.
Pollock had no way of knowing that would happen, of course….which means he knew he had to give up an emerging scoring star in order to strengthen the team with a wily, crafty veteran…who set a playoff record for scoring the year he arrived in Montreal (27 pts. in 20 games). Mahovlich led the team in scoring the next year….and was only two pts. behind team leader Lemaire the next year, scoring 23 pts. in 17 playoff games for another Cup.
Has to be right up there in one of Pollock's best moves….
Redmond has been the colour man on Red Wings telecasts for many, many years…

Yoko holding the fate of The Beatles.... They were in Montreal at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel for a week-long "bed-in", starting May 26th, 1969. Their second "bed-in" of that year....the first being in March at the Amsterdam Hilton ( The Ballad of John and Yoko lyrics). The sessions for Abbey Road were happening throughout '69...until its release in September. Busy people....

Just saw this clip on YouTube. Wonderful piece of archived footage. No doubt pre-produced interviews made to look as if they were conducted between periods. Young Foster Hewitt goes to the Leafs' room and speaks with Owner/GM Conn Smythe, Coach Dick Irvin Sr., Red Horner, King Clancy, Busher Jackson (part of the "Kid Line", with Primeau and Conacher). Then to the Rangers' room to chat with GM/Coach Lester Patrick, Ching Johnson, Bill and Bun Cook.

The perfect trade…the Big M was instrumental in 2 Cups…in what could've easily been a 6-year dry spell (69-70 to 74-75) before the Lafleur gang hit their stride…. On trades from this era....we almost had Bobby Clarke in 1969. Reading Gretzky's book...he said Sam Pollock wanted him but he never had his top 2 picks. Philly took him in 2nd round. Pollock offered Philly 2 first rounders and 3 players for him. Philly wisely refused
