Translated using Google Translator ... I made no corrections to it ... here's the link ... Ron Fournier is one of the journalists who has the largest network of contacts in Montreal in particular because of his long career NHL referee and he made some very interesting statements on the air Wednesday night's 98.5FM.
Ron mentioned that he had made some phone some good sources and that he had learned the names of six star players currently circulating in the negotiations between the various clubs of the League.
Indeed, the experienced journalist said Eric Staal, Jordan Eberle, Dustin Byfuglien, Andrew Ladd, Jarome Iginla and Radim Vrbata currently circulating and they were likely to change their address before the trade deadline.
The names of Andrew Ladd and Jordan Eberle are particularly interesting, the two attackers fit perfectly in the needs of the Canadiens proved and could be the solution to revive the offensive. Marc Bergevin should aim of these six star players?

So I don't want to shoot the messenger here, but geez, is that what passes for journalism these days? What kind of list is that?? Of those six players four are UFAs (Staal, Byfuglien, Ladd and Vrbata) on non-playoff teams, so everybody can "predict" that they would be on the market. My dog said the other day that those guys would be on the market, and he spends half the day licking himself in places that are not discussed in polite company. As for the other two, Eberle is always mentioned in trade rumors, for reasons that I think have more to do with wishful thinking on the people making up the rumors than anything else, and Iginla said earlier this year that he would use his no trade clause to nix any trade this season, for family reasons. I suppose that could have changed, but still.
At any rate, here is what I think; Eberle is the guy I would like to obtain, Staal is the guy I think will be the easiest to obtain, and Vrbata is the guy I think we will obtain.
Take that Mr. Fournier.

Marc Bergevin should aim of these six star players? heard these guys mentioned. McGuire suggests that Staal could find his way back to Carolina a la Vermette next year, so purely a rental. like Ladd. and speaking of the Jets, they ain't selling out, and the CDN$ is in the dumpster . . . I hear Vegas is after a team . . .

No surprises on that list. Staal and Vrbata are UFAs and on teams not making the playoffs. Staal will be harder to move with his cap hit. Iggy still has term left, but it's not terribly steep for a guy still producing. The Avs aren't going anywhere, and could benefit from the return long term. Jets just can't afford Buff and Ladd. If they want to talk about Blake Wheeler in an effort to find the money to keep Buff, I'd entertain that call.
Eberle's numbers are down a tad, but he may be the odd man out and losing ice time. He's signed through 2019, and I'm not sure how we take on that cap hit. No Gilbert next year solves some of it. We'd have to send some money back - Eller/DD.

Some big contracts there, too ... I think Jerome Iginla would provide a lot of stability to the dressing room and he'd provide some (temporary) relief at RW ... quite the mentor for the youngsters in the system, too ... his cap hit is $5.333 million ... granted, it wouldn't be that much near the trade deadline, but it would be nice if the Avs could take some salary back ... he's only 38 and can still bring it ... I don't know what the Avs would be asking for, but maybe Bergevin could kick some tires on that one ...
Cheers.

While Iginla would be nice, he's already said that he won't waive his no trade clause this season, citing family reasons. So unless something has changed he's going to stay in Colorado. www.thefourthperiod.com/news/col151112.html (and elsewhere)

I'd also steer clear of Dustin Byfuglien ... big, impact guy who can play both defence and forward, but I don't know man ... just seems like he marches to his own drum at times ... would he cause Therrien to rub his brow a tad more ...
Cheers.

Eberle and Ladd are the two I'm all in on Ladd is UFA but don't think he'd bankrupt you honestly they need both too make a real difference this year....Only in on Staal if I think you could really win the cup.
No doubt he wil bolt back home for sure....dont think we're there if he is the only big fish....if the Habs are still in a playoff spot Vrbata seems to fit our underachieving middle type player profile.

Zero interest in Buff. Takes dumb penalties, a lot. Don't much care for his attitude either. Someone else can boat anchor themselves with him and his next contract.

According to Sportsnet ( a couple of days ago) the Oilers offered Nugent-Hopkins to Nashville for Seth Jones so he must be available for the right price.
I know he was a first overall but other than that I don't know a lot about him. Is he worth pursuing?

IMO, his 6' 190lb frame are too slight for us. He's fallen down the depth chart in Edmonton, what with McDavid and Draisitl. It's hard to gauge his defensive ability because the Oilers have been so bad as a team. He was the consensus #1, but I think he's been passed by some of his draft class.

Yeah. He's a risky choice. Still has some skill, but you have to be careful with the price. NWT can probably give us a better idea.

The only comparable in terms of games played and points in the 2011 draft is Landeskog. Their totals are quite similar. More goals for GL; more assists for RNH. Over his career he is averaging about 58 points per season. His cap hit is high - 6 million per year until 2020.

Same thing as Gallagher. When is this going to stop? You can't have your scoring guys blocking shots.
