MThead bought a pack of paper and giving it to DLR. He wants to see his paper making skills because I doubt he's going to be in the line-up.

Hey MThead, i know you were probably busy listening to Barry Manilow but "THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT"!
LET THEM PLAY!!! This is why I'm not upset with injuries to Flynn or not making the playoffs. As long ad the kids get some ice time. DLR is going to be an asset on a very good team. MT (and MB) will decide whether it is with us or on another team. Hope they don't blow it, again!

De la Rose has shown precious little in the AHL. Worst fears about him seem to be coming true - on paper lots of decent tools, but absolutely no offensive touch to his game. The guy hasn't scored at any level. He's like Lars Eller, but not nearly as good. Totally unimpressed with DLR.

Seems we're always over hyping our kids and they turn out as disappointments (think Chipchura, Higgins, Kostitsyn the elder, Tinordi, etc. etc.). Maybe this kid will be alright. P.S., don't take this post as a dig against you BH. Just a little wishful thinking on my part.

The jury is still out on Tinordi, but if DLR can have as successful careers as Higgins, Chip, or AK we will have done well. I doubt he'll ever score at the level of AK or Higgins but I like what i see in DLR on the defensive side of the puck. Haven't seen his play in the AHL but I always like what I see when he's with the big team. He should be a very good and useful bottom 6 if developed properly.

The fact that he hasn't been able to make any offensive impact in St John's is disappointing. 10 goals in 67 AHL games is weak. I hope I'm wrong. He didn't look out of place last year in 12 playoff games, so there's some maturity and defensive responsibility, but there are lots of guys like that. I know most 2nd round picks don't turn into top 6 players, but I thought he'd be better offensively. OTOH, that was the knock when he was drafted so I guess we shouldn't be surprised.

The guy hasn't scored at any level. He's like Lars Eller, but not nearly as good. Totally unimpressed with DLR. He's still young. I posted (ages ago after we drafted him) that I liked a lot about him except for the fact he seemed unable to score, at least in his first WJC. I think he was better the following year, but not like a scorer you can't wait to see in a habs jersey. He had 13 points in 49 Swedish Elite league games as a 19 year old. Not great, but not bad either for someone that age. Coaches there are much like Therrien - "What!, you're 19?! Sit down!" I don't have high hopes for him getting to say 30 points in the NHL. The natural instincts haven't shown themselves yet. But....he's still only 20. I see him as a 4th line replacement for Mitchell. Strong, good skater and responsible defensively. He needs to pick up his face-off skills and he'll be good in that role and as a PK'r. Not as much as you hope for from a high 2nd round pick in a deep draft. Guys from the same draft and further down, Lehkonnen and Reway are already better than he is offensively. Not as big, though. I'd love to see Reway over here next year. I think that's in his plans, as long as he's in Berg's plans.

"a goal" should be changed to "an aim". Grinding hasn't resulted in us achieving many goals.

Third liners we expected first line production from. In the case of Chip and AK we wasted first round picks on them. Remember a lot of posters , even Higgins himself, expected him to be a 40 goal scorer. Good times, good laughs back then ....

Kyle Chipchura was brought in because of his leadership ... he was an excellent leader at the junior level, or so I thought, anyway ... I also remember Gainey saying that, they had drafted a 3rd-line player in Higgins ... interesting, too, but at one point both Higgins and Mike Komisarek were touted to be the future leadership of the club ... Cheers.

He was an effective secondary scorer. Higgins was moving down the same road. Iirc, Chris admitted to being too much of a partier during his time in Montreal. That stayed with til he got to Vancouver. By that time he was a third liner. Regardless, both players had high 20g seasons and more than 50 points in a season. If you want to say they underachieved, that is a reasonable claim. To suggest they are as bad as chips, tinner or leblanc, I think is way off.

I sincerely hope we're not looking back on THIS "window" with the same type of memories.... I am numb about this team right now. There are so many unanswered questions and odd moves/non-moves....I don't know the direction being taken. I can't identify with it. Without Price, it's been darn near a cockamamie exercise...and that shouldn't be so.

We used him as a first liner, ..., but for his ice time, line mates, and PP time, having a ppg just north of 0.5 points per game is awful, its third line production. To deny that is rewriting history. He was out of his element being a go-to player. If we are happy with 40 points average from our first and second liners, then that's an even bigger issue I don't even get into Higgins' production for the 2,234th time. Let's just say it was worse than Kostitsyn

And the real killer was that it hurt his skating, making it go from adequate to glacial. He seems to have found a way to reinvent himself, but he went from being a projected 3d line defensive center to being a role player...
