Turn on Sportsnet to catch the NHL highlights. Instead they devote the 1st 12 minutes to skills comp. highlights from the NBA all star game. Then they go to the CDN teams. After the break they go back to some talking heads to discuss the skills comp. Was almost 26 minutes before they talked about the other NHL games. I guess if I want just NHL highlights I will have go elsewhere.
Am I wrong here? Isn't Canada a hockey 1st nation? IMO this talk of the Raptors being Canada's team is just media hype. Does anybody outside of the Toronto area really care? Heck, basketball failed in Vancouver.
I have looked for ratings numbers but can't find much. I am willing to be surprised but have not found much yet.
EDIT: I did try TSN - they were showing a soccer game.

Just more of the Toronto centricity. All star game's being held there, so even Lebron's dog gets an interview. Bark bark. Like all all-star games, I won't watch it either.

"Canada's Team" = Feel Good About Yourselves, Toronto, Because You Haven't Won A Stanley Cup in 50 Years. When it comes to the NBA and MLB, such a moniker is a default position. And at that, a very presumptive assertion. Whatever…. "Canada's Team" plays international games/tournaments, period. Speaking of the Raptors, one of my old stand-up colleagues is doing very well with his t-shirt sales: WEED THE NORTH.

Sorry guys, but I am actually enjoying this all star weekend. A lot better entertainment than the Habs have been producing lately. Plus the dunk contest was insane last night and many are saying if was the best contest ever. You had a guy dunking in a sitting position over a guy standing up 6 feet tall. There were incredible dunks not seen since Vince Carter. Too each his own though.

I'm not disputing the talent on display. The best in the world.
It's the Canada's Team thing, for me….and how Toronto proclaims itself entitled to it across the board….even when unnecessary re: the NBA and MLB, where they're Canada's Only Team.

Didn't that guy lose though, to a guy who dunked from the free throw line (he stepped about a foot over) a dunk that was done before by Jordan. It's all rigged. Even when it is the best ever they manage to screw it up

I don't watch NBA jkr ... I don't watch MLB either .... I'd say outside Ontario the Blue Jays and Raptors ratings plummet
