Return is minor league prospect Colin Smith and a 4th round pick this year. I'd be quite surprised if Smith makes the NHL, so it's an effective cap dump trade for the Leafs.

The leaves have 12 picks this draft... they will probably get a couple more ... and if the Pens make the playoffs the pick they gave the Leafs is a first ... Matthias was having a bad year, but he scored 18 last year for Vancouver.

I want to see how Mark Hunter uses these picks ... when I see what he did last year, he has a chance to add to the future core of the Leafs in this draft ... Lou Lamoriello is providing him with picks to do it with ... Cheers.

The 2016 "tank" plan was in for Toronto since last year and their strategy was to sign a bunch of guys last summer that they could unload at this deadline for draft picks, which is a pretty good idea if it had been any other team but the Leafs.
