Per Friedman:
Ladd, Harrison and Fraser for Dano, first, and third in 2018 if Hawks win Cup. Jets retain 36% of remaining salary.

At 1st glance looks like a good deal for a UFA to be.

Harrison is in the minors. No nothing about Marko Dano.
Looking at Dano, he's 21, a medium to small center, and not much of an offensive threat.

Hawks won't be able to keep him, so he'll be a UFA to keep an eye on come summertime.

He was on my radar for sure, but once we plummeted, it turned into a "next year" acquisition. He'd be a great fit on our team in October. He's a great pick up by Chicago and if they win another Cup, worth it. The risk if they don't is that they'll have lost Saad and this year's draft pick for nothing. But, that's why Bowman gets paid the big bucks. Tough to leave a decent scouting group with no ammo, though. That's a gm who takes calculated risks. I didn't think Chicago was going far this year because their depth just wasnt there. This improves their chances a lot, though it's no guarantee yet. Geeze, a freak injury could throw all your well laid plans to hell. But...good on Bowman for tossing the dice. I wonder if Berg is watching and learning. This is no time to gamble for Berg, but if, say, you could get Drouin for Eller, that's a deal I'd make. We've got pieces to replace Eller to some extent, but nothing that could turn into Drouin if he fulfills his promise.

Jets never got much Ladd. That is late first rounder and Dano not a topplayer, plus retained 3.6m

A 1st rounder isn't much of a loss for Chicago when they can pluck an NHL ready prospect like Panarin from the KHL. How many first rounders in this year's draft are going to put up the close to 70 points Panarin is going to net this year, and how long will it take them to get there? Not many. I like Ladd, but Winnipeg was probably right to walk away from him. He seems like the type of player that is on the precipice of a rapid decline, and a high risk signing for the money and term he'll be seeking. I think he's be a good signing on a two year contract for $5M AAV.

At the close of the previous season in Columbus, he went a stretch of about 14 games I think, at a point per game. One tweet said that Chicago had softened on him because he couldn't play their high tempo game. I haven't seen him play, so don't have a personal opinion, just that he's still quite young and looked like a good pick a year ago. It's not a good sign that he's been traded twice at this early a stage, though. Cheveldayoff's not a dummy, on the other hand. If the Hawks lose in the first round, that first round pick may not look quite as bad. (Yes, I'm a contrarian).
