Canes receive two seconds and prospect Saarela. Per Dreger and McKenzie. Canes retain 50% of remaining salary.

that's actually quite a bit for a guy who was only going to go to one team.

Rangers could only get deal done with the Canes retaining the max 50% of salary. They only have a piggy bank of coins left in cap space now.
Staal would only waive his NTC for the Rangers.
The bigger names are going to teams right up against the cap. They won't be staying after this season unless those teams do a major overhaul to their lineup. Can't see that happening.
Wonder what all the trade deadline shows will ramble on about tomorrow for hours. I guess a recap of all the done deals.

Here's hoping Berg gives them some things to talk about.

That's a lot for a pure rental.

That's a lot for a pure rental. It is big time ... the Rangers have only four picks this year ... their first pick will be in the 3rd round at #85 and they don't pick again until the 5th round #145 ... IMO, that's how you mortgage the future, so if they don't get a Cup this year ... I don't know what their prospects look like in the system, but they've already given a lot more by moving Anthony Duclair ... I'd like to see how this lack of picks affects them down the road actually ... Cheers.
