Figure we could put all the action from the last day in here. Here's one from tonight:
Hurricanes have traded Versteeg to Kings for Zykov and a conditional 5th. No salary retained.

Leafs acquire Laich, prospect Carrick, and a 2nd in 2016 for Winnick and Ducks 5th in 2016. No salary retained. Remains to be seen how truly deep this draft is, but the Leafs are stock piling picks in the early rounds.

If you pick enough some of those guys will become players.

Redline Report thinks the draft has no depth. Okay, let’s get right down to brass tacks: This year’s NHL draft depth is bad.
There, we said it. Don’t get us wrong — we love the grouping in the top 10; even the next dozen or so down to No. 22 on Red Line Report's list list offer considerable promise.
But there’s a steep decline in talent in the mid-20s, and then things drop off a cliff around the middle of the second round.
We are struck by the comparison of the players we had ranked in the 20s through the mid-40s in 2015 to now. It's not pretty once you get past the mid-20s in 2016, there are a lot of warts and no sure bets.www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nhl/draft/2016/02/21/2016-nhl-draft-matthews-jake-bean-chychrun-depth/80668094/

They are accumulating a ton of picks. Law of averages I guess. If you pick enough some of those guys will become players. Their bigger problem right now is they don't have an NHL roster. Outside of JVR, Kadri, Reilly, Bernier and a few others, they will need to be adding a lot of roster this summer. I don't expect all those picks will stay intact, they will likely be using some as trade chips.

Not a clue what he could get back. I'm still in the buy out if he isn't moved camp.

I can remember Gainey trading an injured Theodore. It's not out of the question.

Especially since I just read a tweet that showed how Boedker's value was pumped by the Yotes. I think he's played more than anyone in the league on the PP and has 18 PP points. And he's -28 on the year. I know, I know, it's not the best stat, but still....-28. whoa. Sounds like he and his agent will be waiting by the phone until someone clears the cobwebs off him. There's always the KHL and those well maintained transport planes.

Big price for Russell.
The Stars supposedly after Hamhuis too. He is on record saying he would possibly move to a contender and sign with Vancouver in the summer.

At least it helps in judging value when considering a move. If you're offered a pick around #40 and lower, you really have to judge whether it's better than a 6th rounder. So far our own 2nd rounder is close to that iffy area and the Minnesota one is even worse. This is one of those draft years where a good scouting department can make all the difference.
