The Canadiens need to bring in some experience to help them work towards the playoffs. I can't think of someone better, who would probably come fairly cheap.
I know that he has not been the same player since the cheap shot by Tucker of the Maple Leafs, but he is still doing fairly well, producing around 30ish points with lots of assists.
The Habs could use his experience, and he probably would come for Perrault who is not doing a whole lot lately for the Habs.
Comments?!

trading a guy like that TO a team you are fighting for a playoff spot with... will never happen.

I've been a big Mike Peca fan since his days with the 67's. If there is one leader out there who could help us, it's Peca. But I don't know if Gainey would be able to land him right now. His team is vying for a playoff spot and is right there with Montreal (with one game in hand). The Islanders won't let him go. Anyway, good posting to you Patrick. Please don't forget to read the Code of Conduct on the main board. Thanks. Cheers.

As much as I like Peca as a player and would love to see him in a Habs uniform, a trade to Mtl will only happen if the Islanders trade him out of the Conference and then the Habs make a trade with the other team.

Yes, Mike Peca has not been the same player since the Darcy Tucker hit and because of that, his wonky knee and his steep $4.5M pricetag for next season, he's a player that I don't think would be worth the cost of our top youngsters.

Not only that, but he would be impossible to land at this point considering NYI has him and they're in the same playoff race...

Peca for Perrault....are you insane? What GM would give away a guy like Peca for Perrault, seriously?

Peca for Perrault....are you insane? What GM would give away a guy like Peca for Perrault, seriously? Mike Milbury. Really, you never know . . . though this from newsday.com: Charles Wang apparently has seen enough Islanders prospects go on to flourish elsewhere - this year's example is the breakout season Raffi Torres is having in Edmonton - so don't expect his team to be an aggressive buyer in the trade market this season. But that doesn't mean the Islanders' owner hasn't given general manager Mike Milbury a green light to shop around.Mike and Bobby Clarke have the same trading philosophy and are equally inept (no, not true: Mike is more-so). You who didn't like what Reggie did -- how would you like to deal with Mike all these years? Anyway, Peca is too rich for the Habs -- salary and prospect-wise.
