I don't like the double dealing. Sounds like the Preds were told it's a done deal & then the family backs out with a word to Poile. The kid is old enough to make up his own mind but sounds like he's being influenced by his father, who just happens to work for the Leafs. That extra year is big & he's willing to forego that?
As that list shows, not many of these guys turn out. I remember the hype around Justin Schultz & he turned out to be rather ordinary.

I too would have concerns about possible attitude issues. The points dip the whole roster had this season concerns me too.

This whole thing smells rotten to the core. The Leafs just happen to sign his father as a scout and then draft his brother. There's a case for tampering but you would never will be able to prove it.
Christmas dinner 2015
Jimmy: Hey Dad, I am really struggling on deciding my NHL future...
Dad: Toronto is a great organization and you could play with your brother.

Has collusion written all over it. I think they at least owed Poile a meeting. Freezing him out is bush league advice.

If there is/was collusion, there's a (digital) paper trail. Deleting text messages from a phone doesn't make them 'gone' .

I was reading some of Poile's comments about this. He has been professional but severely miffed by not even getting a meeting when management came to town.
Pretty shady and stinky dealings from the Vesey camp.

There might not be a paper trail within the family, but if they communicated with the leafs it's out there in little 1s and 0s.

Pretty shady and stinky dealings from the Vesey camp. Poile seems one of the nicer, calmer, guys in the league. If he's pissed, you know it went sour. I mean, Vesey all but had it made in Nashville. They need scoring forwards, so he was going to have real ice time in the top six. Odds are he'd get to play with Forsberg. Overall, the team is good. It's not a big market, but it's a strong one. Nashville is in the midst of a real boom right now. It's a happening place. If I'm a prospective player, especially a player looking for an ELC, I'm all over that. I realize UFA's might be a little scared given the team's self-imposed cap, but this is different.

Interesting to see how this one plays out. Why would Lou risk a tampering charge? I guess he's coloured outside the lines before, and sometimes gotten away with it. It certainly hasn't stained his reputation. In Toronto, it'd be, "Well, that's Lou…trying every trick in the book to make our team better…" As it pertains to a rebuild, though….what's so great about this kid that Babcock would want him? It points more toward a who-you-know scenario….a favour to the dad/employee….well now, that screams old-boys club already, don't ya think? Maybe that aspect of this business (every business?) is inevitable. Human nature.

Five million a year to the son for a cap hit and seven million to the father to clean towels with no cap hit. Is Hillary Clinton's pact his campaign manager?

BUF traded one of their numerous third rounders this draft for his rights. Let's see if they have any better luck signing him.

Vesey's agent is re-iterating they'll wait and take offers from everyone. Why not? You can always sign with Buffalo or Nashville anyway.
