Americans are now taking it to Canada ... Austin Matthews has had a strong tournament and a strong game today ... three unanswered goals 7:11 and they lead 3-2 ... Brendan Gallagher just took an penalty on top of that ... good on Matthews; he doesn't play with the same supporting cast Patrik Laine does ...

I watched the last period. Didn't realize it was on that early. Good effort by the boys and a well deserved victory. Duchene looks good, huh? I could also see Marchand making the World Cup team this September. He's improved, and he seems to be more disciplined. It seems there are two more potential franchise players available in this year's draft. Both Laine and Matthews showed very well against good players. Sigh. Not enough luck at the lottery, or too many wins down the stretch. Winnipeg keeps looking better and better.

I put aside some time to watch this, but I almost forgot ... was having beers on the golf course before I remembered I'd better get home ... I don't know if Matt Duchene is actually available or not ... the guy can do everything ... Ryan O'Reilly had a good tournament, too ... big-time faceoff guy ... pretty slick tournament-winning goal by Connor McDavid ... don't know where the Bruins would have been this year without Brad Marchand ... Milan Lucic leaving was probably the best things to happen to Marchand ... he can focus on actually playing the game now rather than being a class-A dork ... Cheers. |
