This is on the heals of Hitch signing the one year deal. Shaw won't be back as one of the other assistants, as he isn't comfortable with a deal that short.

A tough spot wish Habs had the balls to promote him....unfortunately he had no chance in Carolina with what he had.....Kirk is a great assistant can he be a great head coach?.... I would have rolled the dice with respect he had in the room.

During my career, I worked for a major bank and I recall numerous instances of jobs being 'created', so the company could simply hold on to a talented individual. It's normal for positions to come along, or be cut as the need no longer exists. What you don't do when one job disappears, is lose a quality individual as a result. Muller is one of those guys. The Habs should create a position for him. I predict no such things will happen, though, because of the Robinson history. Anyone with the mere appearance of being a threat to the current coach is not going to be hired. Too bad because Muller's strength is improving a power play, is it not?

I always liked Kirk when he was a Hab. Since he's a Kingston boy, maybe it'll even help Don Cherry be kind to the Habs. Good move. Haven't been able to say that very often lately.
