As part of the agreement, the Oilers will provide players to the AHL’s Bulldogs for the 2005-06 season. Edmonton is expected to place up to seven players in Hamilton, including one goaltender, for the upcoming season. The 2005-06 season marks the Bulldogs 10th Anniversary Season in Hamilton. Thanks for the article Mr. B.
Any predictions as to who the Oilers will send? I think Jeff Drouin Deslauriers will be the goaltender sent and Robbie Schremp (if he's eligible, I haven't checked) would be another player I wouldn't be surprised to see in Hamilton next year.

Jeff Double-D for sure (and he'll eat into Danis' appearances—but better him than Ellis). As for the others, I dunno.

No Schremp not old enough. JDD is likely the goalie, as he was rumored to be the goalie when the story first broke in the edmonton media. I've also heard from the oilers writer at HF that Lynch and Woywitka were two guys the Habs asked for. There might be another defensemen thrown in according to him. J-F Jacques and M-A Pouliot were also brought up.

This time the club is our trump card. I would expect that Torres and Stoll are gimmes for Edmonton, but then a few of their other good forwards are almost likely Hamilton bound. Tough break for some of our fringe forwards, but darn it, this will be one good team next season as the lineup with Habs only prospects (less all our guys in Europe and the NCAA who were not coming to town), was not going to be ultra competitive. Sure beats going fishing for AHL vets and NHL cast offs like other teams do to be competitive. With Hamilton likely down a few to the Habs (Begin, Wardo, Komo, Higgins, Hainsey), Thinel off to Europa, and Pleky in limbo (Habs or Europe IMO), the falling Stars off to Dallas or Iowa (Ellis, Ott, Jancevski and Miettinen), then 7 Baby Oil-Sands will leave only 4 or so spots for potential prospects. This will keep some fringe prospects like Shasby, Lambert, Urquhart, Larrivee, etc fighting hard with young guns Lapierre (whom I like a lot...did I mention that I like this kid a lot?) and Flood for those remaining spots. I really think Hamilton will field a decent team, especially after all the raiding that the new salary-cap induced NHL teams will do to their AHL affiliates. Don't forget those award-winning Hamilton Bulldogs radio broadcasts and the new $6US AHL webcasts once the big kahunas are filling up the 21,273 seats in downtown Montreal. This is still our future!!

I don't think Flood has been signed. He will be a free agent in the near future unless the Habs ink him to a contract.

He hasn't been signed, but I would expect he would be one of the 2003 picks inked next week during Bob Gainey's small window of opportunity to do just that. Once he is signed, he could make a strong case for a spot in Hamilton, but there will be some good competition with the returning Dogs and the new Oiler prospects.

We will be sharing Edmonton's prospects with the Dallas affiliate in Iowa:
The Edmonton Oilers have announced a new affiliation agreement with the American Hockey League’s Iowa Stars (Dallas Stars) for the 2005-06 season.
Oilers’ Assistant General Manager Scott Howson says, “We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Dallas for the upcoming season. They are a first class organization with a strong commitment towards development in Iowa."
With the Edmonton Road Runners suspending operations for the 2005-06 season, the Oilers were prompted to move their AHL prospects. The Oilers are expecting to assign up to seven players to Iowa for the upcoming season.
With the addition of the Stars, the Oilers now have three minor league affiliations for the 2005-06 season, including the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs and the ECHL’s Greenville Grrrowl.
